Angry Wal-mart holding blu-ray back!

At Wal-mart you can now by some blu-ray movies but they are not selling their blu-ray players to play them. If Wal-mart where to start selling blu-ray players the price of blu-ray players will start to fall and more and more people will buy them. If Wal-mart starts selling blu-ray players it will double the market for them and blu-ray will take off like a rocket ship.

1. I think you're overestimating Wal-Marts influence
2. They will eventually sell BD players, they probably think there should be more models first. (or whatever the reason is) Once is appears to be profitable enough, they'll start selling too.
Let's not forget, Wal-Mart isn't an electronics store.

Well, the Walmart I've visited lately has 5 RCA HD-DVD players sitting in their boxes (no display unit) in a corner one on top of the other, for $450. They haven't moved or changed position in 1 month since I spotted them...
I didn't see the Phillips Blu player on the store.

In Aus our equivillent to Wal Mart is Harvey Norman and David Jones both are selling Blu Ray players. If you believe the FUD Blu Ray is an over priced (I interpret exclusive rich people only) luxury item. It's likely the places where those people shop for Audio Visual equipment will be selling HD-DVD (this is only a guess at the moment as there is no HD-DVD available for purchase here yet and Toshiba, or RCA for that matter, have no presence in the Wal Mart equivilent). By equivilent I mean the demographic and items they sell. The smallest Wal Mart is possibly 3 times the size of the largest Harvey Norman store. So it seems we are not only upside down but back to front as well!

I bought a Philips in the actual store were there was a display with the RCA player playing Star Wars sd dvd on the RCA....but over a month ago they switched it to Philips player surrounded by BD titles....with zero hd dvd players to be seen.
Other local Wal Marts have just started getting BD titles in since the Ps3 launch...but only big name titles like X Men 3.

I bought World Trade Center, Kun Fu Hustle, The Great Raid and Talledega Nights (my wife loves Wil Farrow) yesterday....all for 5.00 or more less than BB wanted per movie.

It seems only some Wally Worlds are actually stocking HD players in any form.

The sell them online,

I guess they are too expensive to have in the stores right now.

That and apparently Wally World has a problem with people walking out of the store with anything of value.
The store with all the stock has there BD display player wired down with cable to the display....and they claim people walk out with 40" displays ect in this above average neighborhood.
I asked at one of the other stores and they said they have an even worse problem with theft....and it was a big part of why they don't stock BD players.

Can you imagine people grabbing a 40" display and walking out the front door with it......some peoples kids hey

oh walmart does sell bluray as well as hddvd movies
they just have them cluttered on the shelves like garbage

the only way i would watch bluray and hddvd is on disc drives
with all the 1080p sets on the market.
now if only they would get rid of fullscreen standard movies

On a Dubious HD-DVD pro site they had the list of HD-DVD players one was a rebaged Toshi for exclusive sale at walmart. However they also had as HD-DVD a Sony Handicam (High Def that records onto mini DVD) well I guess when desperate count anything. So I stress I don't put a lot in that information, but may explain why walmart is not that excited about Blu Ray (yet).

I got my PS3 grocery shopping at Walmart. I went back a week later and they had 18 in stock, 8 on display.

Looks like i lucked out on the 20GB, these are harder to find and IMHO look classier in high gloss back.

My local Walmarts, ( We have 4 of them, on a puny little island in the middle of the pacific ) Pulled Blu-ray and HD-dvd video because people kept returning the disks when they tried to use it in a ordinary DVD player and it did not work.

I think you are a tad bit mistaken, maybe the walmart where you are, but not necessarily walmart in general...

I just checked walmart.com, and they have actually lowered their price on the Samsung BD-P1000 to $698

Let the roll backs begin!
