Lots I haven't seen just because I haven't gotten around to them yet - lots of classics like Doctor Zhivago and such that I own but just haven't sat down to watch. That is most of them, just have never sat down to watch them even though I am sure I will like them. Will get to them at some point. Then there are some that just don't interest me like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings - fantasy isn't my thing. Same with most of the Marvel ones - never read the comics so the characters are not appealing. Finally there are ones that I just don't want to see as I know they will be bad. Why watch Into Darkness when the 2009 Trek sucked and it is the same people making it? Or why would I want to see a Melissa McCarthy movie when I think she is a horrible actress? Lots starting to get onto that list now as the crappy movies keep getting made.

Blade Runner

I want to watch it as I have the 3 disc edition which includes 5 versions, i think. The last few weeks when I'm looking through my collection to see what to watch, Blade Runner always comes up. But I can't decide if I want to watch the theatrical first or the final cut first so it's just sitting there waiting for me to decide.

I've said this before many times, but I've tried many times to watch Avatar and I simply can't make it through it. It's freakin' awful.

Whatever ridiculous amount of money went into making that movie, that's the only difference between Avatar and a movie someone could make on an iPhone with an anamorphic lens adapter in his backyard. Filling a movie with a ton of effects and making it look "new" doesn't raise it above the foundation of the material, which in this case was just horrid.

The only reason anyone even remembers that movie now is that it made a gazillion dollars. If it had been a failure, no one would ever even bring it up.

I might have to do that as I have the same set and thought I would watch them in order to see the changes but after watching the original theatrical version, my curiosity over Blade Runner is pretty low so I don't know if I want to watch the other versions.

You'll thank yourself. Trust me.

Then again, the film has a very special place in my heart. I still remember seeing it in the theater when it came out, with my dad. And trust me when I tell you that's amazing, as I barely remember yesterday. So, I'm somewhat biased.

But the Final Cut is the one you want to dip into.

Movies based on YA novels.

They're aimed at my age group but I can't bring myself to watch any of them, the ones I have seen haven't impressed me in the slightest (Hunger Games, Divergent, Twilight).

I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy but have never been interested in Harry Potter, I remember glimpses as a kid and recall liking the world rather than the main characters. I don't feel the urge to revisit them anytime soon.

The Bourne movies just look bland and uninteresting to me. Maybe one day.

Transformers 2 was enough for me to know I was better off not seeing 3 and 4

Never seen a Nicola Sparks movie in its entirety, never will.

Two films I haven't gotten around to watching for less negative reasons are Munich, Saving Private Ryan and The Terminal. I'm a huge fan of both Spielberg and Hanks but these two have just never crossed my path.

The Terminal = Fairly boring, but of course competent. C+

Saving Private Ryan = See above. If it weren't for the first sequence, no one could tell you what even happens in the movie 15 minutes after leaving the theater.

Munich = Masterpiece. This one you need to get around to seeing. Gripping, compelling drama at it's absolute best. I've decided recently that this is my top Spielberg film. At least give it a try.

I would recommend giving Harry Potter another go. The whole character arc with Severus Snape is fantastic given that he is such a complicated character and not a straightforward secondary antagonist to Harry Potter as you're led to believe in the first few films/books.

While I agree that the Omaha beach sequence was by far the most stunning sequence, I disagree that the rest of the film is not memorable.
There are many scenes that immediately come to mind when I think of that film-- the deaths of several major characters during the last quarter are unforgettable to me...

I don't watch foreign films as I hate reading subtitles and there are usually no Americans in them.

I hate arty farty films whose main purpose is to try and make you think. I only want to be entertained....if I want to think, I'll go back and finish High School.

I don't watch snuff films as I hate films where you know right from the start how they will end.

We're going to have to agree to disagree. I really disliked the film. There are great WWII films. I just don't think this is one of them.

Um, do you know what "snuff films" are?

Oh, well, picking up sarcasm on the 'net can be tough. And after his first two points, I was debating.

Amen to that; its one reason why I've often found myself in so much trouble.

Yes because the power of thought is a terrible thing. I'm actually the opposite I don't just want to be entertained, I want to think about what I've just seen for the next few days, even weeks.

Agreed. "The more the merrier." Which, to me, means the more it makes me think, conceptualize, try and create connections, the better. Does this mean that I don't like utterly stupid, funny movies? Of course not. I do. But it also means that I would rather watch something like Persona than your average blockbuster.

But a look at my collection will show that I enjoy the average blockbuster too. I mean, I own all the X-Men movies (except for Origins), the Resident Evil boxset, the Underworld boxset, etc. It doesn't mean that those movies aren't fun. They are.

Give me a movie like Phoenix though, and that's where I am at.

I used to be all about "fun and nothing else" with movies...but once I realized every story has a message, I became more selective with my choices. There's some films which have excellent effects, but don't really seem to matter beyond the surface. I also get tired of multiple films tackling the same idea, and being too similar with it.

All of that said, some of my favorite movies are those which just lift my spirits and make me laugh, without any crassness built in. That's why I love both Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music, plus many of Disney's older animation. I grew up around the time Beauty and the Beast was made, but still enjoy classics like Alice in Wonderland or Peter Pan.

Agree with both of these (well, apart from foreign films not having American actors as a reason for not watching them). Unfortunately I can't always avoid it because the university I go to for some reason likes to include them in the screenings.
