Exactly. I don't understand how OLED can be the best in its current form when the kuro still does things better. The tech is new and still needs improvement. You might say we're nitpicking those issues, but we are enthusiasts not the general consumer. We notice things like that. For me especially a uniform picture and motion. A digital looking picture is not really my favorite either.

We'll see how the 2016 OLED's fair.

I would really like to see something from Samsung and Sony though.

I have a KRP-500M and Panasonic VX300 65" PDP monitor that I will not likely upgrade for a while. But I did upgrade one of my personal TVs with a late production 65EF9500 and we are loving it. LG fixed or greatly reduced the early production anomalies and these 2015 4K OLED TVs deliver an exceptional picture quality that far exceeds any previous TV.

Even better is LG's 2016 4K OLED line-up as all of the issues are fixed and they are much brighter and beautifully decode Dolby Vision HDR. We've been enjoying several 4K Blu-ray titles with HDR10 and lots of Netflix and Amazon Instant Video in 4K with Dolby Vision and P3 color.

Seeing 4K, HDR WCG, PQ Digital gamma on a true 10-bit 2016 OLED display is something we have never seen before and no TV has ever come even close to the image quality.

All those saying the Kuro is still king are one eyed fan boys. The Panasonic ZT60 bested it. It was the first of the Panny lines to use the patents they bought off Pioneer if I remember correctly.

Sounds good Robert. I'll have to check them out myself and see how much better they are from current models. But it's good that LG keeps on improving it. That only means great things if others decide to step in.

That 500m was really the last best display. No other plasma or LCD matched it's 0.0005 black level.

We're less than a 20 minute ride from the furthest BX area. Hope you can stop by.

We're not one eyed fan boys. I own a ZT60 and a Kuro and the Kuro hangs right there with the ZT60. Do you own either set......... or are you just impressing us with your flat panel knowledge? And no one here is saying the Kuro is still king, you're missing the point. What is being said here is that for the price of admission to OLED, those of us with Kuros and ZT60s are in no rush to jump ship........ until the price drops and a few more minor issues are addressed. Someone's opinion I do trust, Robert Zohn, just addressed this issue beautifully in the post above yours.

I saw the LG 55" 9300 or 9800 about 2 years and it sure looked good with the demo loop.

It won't beat a KRP 500M.

haven't the Kuro's been surpassed by the LG OLED's?...in terms of blacks, color reproduction and overall image quality?

No.

They are better on blacks, but you'd never tell the difference. With color, they have a wider color gamut if the material is true UHD at the source, otherwise nothing is improved.

The real headache is motion blur, which they've made real progress with, but not nearly as good as the Kuro. If they get that right, I'll get one, but not before. They're almost there, maybe one more year.

Right. It's a 20 minute ride for me, if I take one a them space planes the Air Force keeps out at Vandenburg or Edwards Air Force Base, but I can't figure out how to hotwire the darn thing.

Plus it's unmanned, so no seats, and no controls. There's barely room to bring a cold one, and no place to set it down (not really an issue, it probably won't last 20 whole minutes).

I don't know who is gonna be more ticked off - you, when I finally sail into the showroom, or the security guards. I hope I get a quick demo before they haul me off.

As someone who has twice driven 7 hours to get the the shootout, I concur!!

And yet we had one at the shootout when the VT60 and ZT60 were present and other than strictly the on screen results of greyscale accuracy and perhaps pure black levels, and even that was pretty much a wash, I recall most who vocalized their opinion would have disagreed with you on the vast majority of picture performance.

Seeing that 55" curved LG OLED 1080p model from a couple years ago, while it had some issues, was more than enough to convince me of the future of OLED. I have never seen ANY display come anywhere near to the performance we saw in black levels when the boys put that 10 pixel wide white rectangle, everything else 0 ire black, test pattern on the screen. Every TV on the wall had varying degrees of grey where the blacks should be, the Samsung plasma champ from the previous year performing easily the "best of the rest" compared to all the 4K LED sets on the wall...but there at the bottom, floating in space like Pioneer dreamed of with their zero black concept, was the 1080p LG OLED. Stunning display of the potential of OLED, would love to see the difference with today's UHDP sets.

I agree with you. I have owned a Kuro, then Panny VT series(1yr prior to ZT, which didn't exist until the last year of plasma manufacturing).

So having owned some of the best plasmas in TV history I stopped by my local Fry's Electronics LG OLED demo. WOW! It BLEW my mind! OLED absolutely destroys any plasmas!
