Pioneer Kuro plasmas better than 4k tv's?

Debating about an obsolete HDTV being superior to current HDTVs is a moot point, since the Pioneer Kuros have been discontinued for the past few years. That's like comparing VHS to DVD! Nobody can buy a brand new Pioneer Kuro from nowhere if they wanted to.

There is far more to UHD than resolution. Is HDR rendered meaningless by screen size? Color accuracy?

Correct, but I would go looking for a used Pioneer if I were buying a TV right now.

I have the ultimate Kuro. I just don't agree that it's better than the current OLED sets. Imagine in a few years with OLED has really gripped the market.

I'm retiring my Pioneer Elite Kuro & replacing it with an LG G6 that is supposed to be here before the end of the month.

Believe me it took a lot of research & talking to a lot of the experts to make that decision.

The PQ blew me away on the LG & that's saying a lot since I had a Kuro.

For people that are downing the Kuro if you've never had one that was properly calibrated it is hands down the best set I've seen in the last 10 years.

That is until the LG. I haven't decided whether to sell it or move it to another one. I have the 60" Pioneer Elite Kuro.

The largest Kuro ever made was the Pioneer 151, at 60 inches. Not 65. I have a 79 inch Sony - but the Kuro is still in heavy use.

I almost pulled the trigger on a OLED but then remembered, yeah they do suffer from white pixel burn-in.

Oh well, maybe something after OLED will suffice. As for Plasma & Kuro... = Bose.

I went into a Sears yesterday and saw a curved Samsung 4k Ultra HD and it looked nice, nice PQ, nothing that looked any better than my Pioneer. I thought the 4k tv was very sharp and overly digitized where as the Pioneer plasma was more natural and realistic and less eye strain.

I haven't seen any LED TV's with deep blacks like the Kuro. Having said that, I think the Kuro plasmas were already edged out by the Panasonic Plasmas( VT and ZT)

I have a 60 inch Kuro and the picture is stunning. The only thing that would make me consider a new TV is a 3D TV that doesn't require glasses or my current TV dies.

Love my Kuro.

The Kuro was still a step ahead of my 60vt60. The KRP 500m was the best thing going.

Very true, ^^ but it's hard to persuade the Kuro and VT/ZT60 owners. I am one of the many PDP lovers and until the really good 4K OLED's came to the market I agreed that I was not going to buy a new TV. But once you see a properly set-up 4K OLED TV you just don't know what a truly great TV can actually look like.

4K is good, but not compelling enough to buy a new TV, but HDR is very good, and P3 is great as is PQ digital gamma and of course a good true 10-bit panel is very important and these are all things a PDP can't do. But above all when you pair up all of the new TV system advancement on a 2015 or even better on a 2016 4K OLED it's simply magical and looks nothing like what we have ever seen before.

If you get one that works right without yellow streaks pink and green spots and so on. No way i would jump on OLED until things get better and we get other companies making them. I have a under 2000 hour 60vt60 that works fine. I guess if it went out i would have no choice as i would never buy LED ted.
