AHHHHH, I just bought the Third Window version. This looks so much nicer, I wonder if the transfer will be the same?

Supporting Third Window Films is still good, makes sure we get English subtitles on Japanese movies that arrow or eureka don't pick up.

Probably the same transfer as Third window film, because they didn't do the restoration.

Actually, I recall reading in the Third Window Films thread that the materials they received were highly flawed and Third Window used a lot of their own money to fix the transfer. Third Window also gave (sold?) their fixed transfer to the German distibutor.

Yes, that's correct. In fact, I'm not gonna order this Korean issue until I see caps and read comments.

This is most likely going to be a port of an existing blu ray as most korean blu rays are. suspiria is a port of the japanese, the lover is a port of the german, crouching tiger and shaolin soccer are ports of the uk discs and so on.

Just got my copy in the mail yesterday. I've only watched about 20 minutes of it, but the two transfers seem quite similar to me.

It looks like the Korean release might have a bit more contrast than the one from Third Window. Some scenes look a bit less muddy, and others a bit overblown. That said, there aren't a ton of bright scenes in this film, so it seems like a fair compromise. I'm definitely not an expert, but the video quality looks quite comparable to me. I flashed between inputs and didn't see any difference aside from the contrast. I would say the Third Window release is generally more accurate though, particularly in the bar scene which looks too bright. Otherwise, it seems like a nice release.

Also, the packaging is excellent, and the disc is all region.
