Default Need x64 Drivers for SONY BWU-100A Burner

Hello, All I'm trying to get my Sony BWU-100A burner going on my Windows Server 2003 x64 server; BIOS sees it, Windows won't:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

...Does anybody know how to fix this? Does anybody know where the 64-bit drivers for this burner are?

Thanx in advance for any replies,

Pudnik

I have used that same drive under XP and Vista with no problems. It just sees it as it would a CD/DVD drive. No special drivers needed.

[sigh] ...Then the unit itself doesn't support 64 bit. Looks like I'll have to move it to another machine...Thanx everybody...

Default Need x64 Drivers for SONY BWU-100A Burner...SOLVED

...I moved it from channel 1 Master to channel 1 Slave...and over the last 24 hours, Windows apparently fixed the Registry entries itself, and now the drive works great...??

Moving it from Master 1 to Slave 1 caused Windows to recogonize it as a 'different device' than when it was plugged into Master 1. Sounds like the hardware wizard burped when adding your device information the 'first' time.

You do not need a driver for optical drives on any plug and Play os. They are controled completely by firmware. The Burning rom software mearly relays commands to the drive's firmware with the OS being the middleman.

Yes jumper settings are always fogotten by n00bs.

Channel 1 is the same channel as the Hard Drive right? you can't have two masters on the same IDE interface.

Master is for Drives all by it's lonesome. When you add a second drive the the same IDE interface, it HAS to be slave. Slave drives don't work by their lonesome, it needs a master device.

BTW: what would you need a Server 2003 for? Creating a new active directory forest?, Domain?, DHCP server?, RAS router?, DNS server?, File server?, Terminal Server?
None of these need a Blu-ray drive.

If your thinking backup, that can be done on workstations with Blu-ray drives. You can perform backup jobs on remote computers as long as you have your user account part of the backup operators group.

Default Need Registry Entries for SONY BWU-100A Burner Hardware Enumeration...

Right, the BIOS recognizes the drive now that I moved it to the second channel slave. Then something got magically fixed in the Registry and Win32 recognized the drive and gave it a letter, and it started working, no problems. Then I tried running the firmware updater to update the firmware from 1.0a to 1.0e, and I trashed the Registry entries again! If possible, please post a copy of the correct Registry data for this enumeration. Note: I was running Alcohol 120% full version at the time of firmware update. I've since uninstalled it as I have to upgrade to the new version anyway.

I have two PC workstations on my network, and two Mac wireless workstations connecting thru two Airport basestations. The server serves out 1/2 Terabyte of disk space, and a distributed fileshare. When Alcohol is installed, it also serves out 4 virtual drives as well, so I can play protected games on any of the workstations.

I'm running Windows Media Services to serve out my mp3 music archive.

It used to be a domain controller, but I'm going to be using a different machine running Longhorn, so it's been downgraded.

I'm an IT pro working for a huge company, so I use the server OSs as learning environments.
