I don't know if they're DC exactly, but they are Director Supervised and apparently approved. I think I've read that Chris Columbus prefers the theatrical editions, but he has never disowned the longer editions so I'm not sure if both cuts are close to equal. They aren't just studio generated deleted scene dumps. The same thing can't be said of the HP 3-8 TV cuts that get shown and people still are going nuts over b/c they aren't included. Everything I've read about those say the Directors for those have all pretty much said the Theatrical cuts are the definitive Director's cuts and anything else if a lesser edition.

Cheers, hariseldon.

I could have sworn Columbus said he had nothing to do with them when I was deciding whether or not to buy those fancy gigantic editions a couple years ago, but maybe you're right.

Why did they change the covers for the Blu-ray editions? They were originally supposed to be the same as the DVD copies.

The DVD and Blu-ray covers are the same covers used in the recent UK release. So the "iconic" covers for the blu-rays were intended as is as far as I know.

LOL, me.

Never read the books, or have seen any of the movies. Not my thing, but from what I understand, she's an amazing writer.

I was on Target.com about 2 weeks ago and got every Blu-ray cover in Hi-Res to upload here. Now they've changed to the ones in the photo.

The ones this thread is about only came out last week. And they are a timed exclusive to Target (in-store only). You probably bought a old edition.

I didn't buy them... lol I'm saying the covers were using this artwork on Target.com about 2 weeks ago:

Which made me think that was going to be the artwork for these, and now they're what we see in the photo.

They used those for the DVD versions.

The covers I posted were what Target ORIGINALLY had on their site for these new Blu-ray reissues. They had the same covers for both the DVD & Blu-ray listings. I'm wondering why that changed.

I thought at one point I had read actual commentary tracks were recorded for a select if not all of the movies for eventual future releases - I wonder if we'll get those (if at all) (maybe the UHD editions?)

I'm glad they did, I like the covers for the blurays better.

I haven't yet. I just want the most complete set and also became a fan, just the movies, in 2013.

The artwork is great so I'd get just SS and CoS since never I had the money for the expensive ultimate sets to get the extended versions, but naturally, these are out when I'm low on cash from the recent TV on BD sets lol and aren't these supposed to be limited? or is that just the poster?

I saw these new covers on the blu-rays yesterday. I love the new art! Way better designs than the covers done for those white James Bond reissues and the ones for Christopher Reeve's Superman movies and the Burton-Schumacher movies. I own them all already too, but if I didn't, these would be really tempting to buy just on the covers alone.

I have to think they'll keep what's in stock.
I hope they lower the prices. I'd be willing to buy them for like $7.99 or so. I'd even be tempted at $10.

It seems I'm the 3rd one in this thread to chime in. I've only seen the first movie, and never bought any of the films in any form. For a long while I didn't have the money and/or there were other priorities. Also waiting for a good deal. I was bummed when the Hogwarts Collection was a DotD last year at exactly the wrong time for me to afford it. But hopefully it'll happen again, or the price will get to be around that.

I'd be tempted by those prices if they also included movie money for Fantastic Beasts later this year. I'd only get the first two movies because I own the theatrical versions of each (from the original UK complete BD collection), and not the extended first two.

I have the big box releases of 1-4. I missed 5-7 when they released though. So I may pick these up if they go cheaper to get the rest of the documentary.

I love the books and while I don't dislike the films they just leave too much out for me. I might get these editions and give them another shot.

The extended editions aren't that great. It's not like a LOTR extended. It's just a few nonrelevant deleted scenes they added back in. The only one I really like is Lucius and Draco in Borgin & Burkes:
