Default King Arthur Subtitle Problem

Anyone have a problem with their King Arthur on Blu-ray. The subtitles for the Woads when Merlin and his people speak do not show up when the subtitles are off. They do show up on the dvd. If you cut on any of the subtitles you have subtitles all through the movie. There should be subtitles just when the Woads or British are speaking in their native tongue without having to have subtitles. I think this is a glitch on the part of Disney coding this blu-ray on the audio...

Yeah, let me know. You will be able to tell in the first fight seen when Arthur has the guy on his knees with his sword in the guys chest. He speaks about Excalibur but the subtitle does not come up. It should be embedded to pop up on its own just for those few seens of the brits or wolts speaking in native tongue. You should not have to cut on subtitles just like the dvd...

You need to turn them on if you want to see what they are saying and turn them off afterwards. You should be able to do it while watching the movie, little bit of a hassle though.

I think the dialog offers very little to the plot and you could follow the action without looking at it. Post back if you disagree and think the dialog was essential.

I remember one scene:
Merlin is told they are coming.
They look at a map.
They point to objects you already know about.
Merlin makes a decision to do nothing.
An argument ensues with one of his guys.
Merlin wins out and they do nothing.

Did anyone see it in the theatres and can tell us if they had subtitles?

Sounds messed up just like stargate was. You should not have to manually turn on the subs to hear somone speak in the movie if its just for a scene or the like.

I agree sounds like an encoding fubar... Sucks, and I will not cut on subtitles just to see what they are saying, I can figure it out I guess. Agreeing with an earlier post on that...

I didn't even catch this when I reviewed the title. I'll have to go back and look to make sure it isn't a hardware issue with select players. But if it isn't there, I agree the lack of subtext didn't hinder appreciation for or understanding of the film. But it's something that needs to be corrected. And it would be easier to do now than later when there are far more sold discs to recall. I'll take a look and send a link to this thread to Disney.

Thanks Chad, it would be interesting if it was a player thing.

Just a bump and request for any info, if any is to be had.

Just watched this today and was disappointed by lack of subs, and lack of any acknowledgement by Disney.

BUMP

Just watched my disc again and decided to look for any new info.

Have subsequent pressings been corrected?
Were there any additional pressings?

Bottom line, has this been corrected?

Any "new" info appreciated.

I had the same problem with THE INCREDIBLES where the scene with Bomb Voyage appeared without subtitles. What I found was you press subtitles on your remote - cycle through until you get to the last English subtitle (example - subtitles 1,2,3 were the complete subtitles, 4,5,6,7,8,9 were commentary subtitles and finally 10 was the English subtitles I wanted). Since the title in question is Disney and so is the title I had issue with, I'm hoping this helps (problem with player generated subtitles).
