Ok, some of you own one of these HD-DVD players, so give us the rundown at this point.

With the firmwares and everything...how are the glithes and bugaboos these days now? Honestly?

What are the key differences between this unit and the A1?

Althought I don't own the HD-A1, we have it up and running in our hometheatre experience pod at BB. We have updated the firmware twice and are now on 1.4

the HDMI hanshake issues seem to be gone now. Speed has improved, but it's still about half as slow as the samsung. The player still doesn't remember where you where if you hit stop, and the audio occasionally drops out still (or doesn't match lips) Also, the included remote control seems less responsive than the Harmony we programmed to it.

Can you (and others) be more specific about this?

When people have complained about this situation, has it been the audio coming out of the display or audio via digital or analog to the AVR, or all of the above?

Most likely through a reciever or seperates of some sort. Used to happen with the Samsung dlps.

What do they mean by 'two-channel Dolby True HD'?

I dont understand the 'two-channel part'.

not surround sound just left and right audio ie stereo.

Will the PS3 have 'two-channel Dolby True HD' to? Hope not.

I don't know I assume it will play 2 channel audio.

PS3 will have HDMI 1.3, the Toshiba XA1 has only HDMI 1.1.

So I think the PS3 will play Dolby trueHD surround.

only if your reciever has HDMI 1.3 which none do so far. PS3 hasn't been confirmed for HDMI 1.3 either btw.

Psiweaver is a seeing is believing type of guy. Nothing wrong with that. So many things turn out differently than expected, i.e. the Blu-ray launch.

haha not fair not fair. I just have seen a lot of changes to the PS3 so far and until I actually see a press release from sony or something similar ie a stat sheet i'm not inclined to go with what many people on the internet are saying.

I just hope that the PS3 will be capable of playing all of the HD audio formats. If Sony is serious about making Blu-ray a success they need to go all out with the audio codecs even with the Blu-ray playback of PS3.
