Yes, it would have been nice if I was specific. I was looking for Action Jackson. I just went into the Action Jackson thread and didn't see Passenger 57.

So glad I requested Action Jackson as a birthday gift a couple years ago. It's the worst of Baxley's action trifecta, but it's nice to have it alongside my Scream and Olive copies of I Come in Peace and Stone Cold, respectively.

All 3 are personal favorites from my childhood, I dont know if I can pick a favorite. I've probably seen I Come in Peace the most often, but I have so much nostalgia for all of them. Speaking of Stone Cold I'd like to see someone release Beyond the Law with Charlie Sheen, really cool biker movie. The problem is its owned by Lionsgate I believe.

Beyond the Law isn't 1/10th as badass, but it's still a cool movie that I agree is crying for a Blu-ray release. Like Extreme Prejudice, my DVD copy is practically unwatchable. Last edited by SeanJoyce; 05-27-2019 at 01:47 PM. |

Action Jackson is my favorite of the 3. It's the only one that's the closest to a typical big budget 80's action movie. The cast, the writing, the action set pieces, the cinematography, soundtrack, etc... I'm still disappointed that Carl Weathers didn't become an 80's action hero in his own right. He had both the look and the charisma. More-so than guys like Van Damme, Seagal, and Norris, IMO.
Stone Cold is ridiculous, but fun (mostly due to Lance and Forsythe), but I Come in Peace was "I turned off after 10 minutes" lol. Dolph is good in almost every supporting role I've caught him in (Rocky 4, Universal Solider, heck I'll even give him The Expendables) but with the exception of Showdown in Little Tokyo, I just can't get into anything he headlines. Granted, I still haven't seen Masters of the Universe or The Punisher.... |

I've always loved ACTION JACKSON and hold it up as the definitive 'dirty little secret' movie, because it is so ridiculous in practically every way possible, like Joel Silver plugged his sensibilities into WAY too many amplifiers (you can say the same about HUDSON HAWK, but except for David Caruso, it doesn't produce the same pleasant feedback for me.)
I absolutely hate the smokey cinematography but man, I can't just watch two minutes of it without sitting down and seeing the whole thing again. Couldn't get into PEACE or STONE COLD at all (latter is weird, because a bunch of good character actors is something I'm always a sucker for), so JACKSON is definitely the one for me, and I'd happily shell out a few bucks (not THAT many) to upgrade to blu- on it and 57 (which is the only sub-90min flick that I always doze off on, but has its moments.) |
