Guessing this will include the separate "production diaries" set, and maybe a new commentary track.

Sounds good. Got the Reel Heroes steelbook, but haven't watched the BD yet, but I'll probably consider this. I got excited thinking it was the 1976 version until I saw the year.

The production diaries are like 4 hours long, so I do wonder what else would be included, unless they're counting the extended cut as an extra too (they probably are). But even still, there's still quite a lot more there

edit: The commentary track would also account for 3+ hours I guess. So that's about 10 hours right there, and there's a few hours of making of's to be included too. So that should be it.

The production diaries are around 4 hours and there was 6 hours worth of additional BTS material on the 3-Disc extended edition DVD. So that is 10 plus the 3 hour commentary. Finally we getting a massive set that has all in 1! Woohoo!

4K UHD was more deserving but oh well.

I kind of hate this movie, yet I still own it for some reason. Don't think I need 13 hours of extras for it though, especially since I mostly only care about commentaries and the old disc has that. Cool that fans finally get the extras on blu though. Enjoy!

I never got around to picking up the Blu-Ray, so I can get behind this release, especially if it carries over all the extras from the DVD releases.

Day one if this comes to UHD.
And even if it has a 2K DI wouldn't it benefit from not having the extras on the disc?

Come on Universal -- Spartacus and King Kong on UHD!

A few months ago my wife said, "they are making a Spartacus remake."
She had mis-spoke and meant Ben Hur, but the first thing I thought of was -- "Now they will release the original in UHD!!!" LOL

I've never seen the deleted scenes, but I hear that all the remaining deleted scenes are in the New York/ship journey part of the movie and none from the island.

I love this movie but there is no way I'm going to double dip again for another Blu-ray. They need to release it on 4K Blu-ray if they want me to buy it again. I already own it on multiple DVD's for all the extras, HDDVD and Blu-ray.

Same here. Surprisingly still do not own it on Blu-ray yet either. Will wait for this new release.

Were the extras filmed in HD? I have the Production Diaries DVD, and it is a great package. I'm good if the bonus stuff is SD.

No, I think the most of the production diaries were shot on DVCams.

This release better have something new worth the money, I've bought this movie 5 times just to get all the bonus features!

I felt sorry for Peter Jackson as I was watching this in the theater. I knew what a labor of love the film was.

The position of Kong's eyes don't match up the direction where his head is turned.
