I have an infocus in72 and am going to upgrade. Price is a big concern for me so I am wondering how big of a difference in picture quality between what I have now (the in72) and a panasonic ax200u. Will I see a huge difference or should I wait (about a one year difference) and wait til I can afford the ae3000. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really like the built in light adjustments I have read about in the ax200u that adjusts to light differences in the room. I'm not sure what this feature is called, but is this in the ae3000? I have been reading about the ax200u and like all the features but my question is, will there be a big upgrade in picture quality from my in72, because if not I will wait til i can afford the ae3000. I have watched a couple of blu-rays on my brothers samsung 61 inch 1080p tv and it put my projector to shame. That is why I am so anxious to upgrade. Anyone with any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanx.

How big of a screen are you projecting onto..... what is the light situation in the room where the projector is, and how many hours are on your bulb?
There are many factors that could be causing the less-than-desired PQ in your current unit, and buying a new one, and putting it in a room with too much light for example, will be money wasted..... (although some projectors deal with light better, it's best for no light for all projectors ![]() |

My screen is 106 inch, I have about 1500 hours on my bulb, and the light in my room is none during my main movie watching hours. During the day there is quite a bit of daylight coming in, but that will be taken care of soon when I get a door put up on my theater room. I was mainly thinking the light feature on the ax200u was cool like if I was playing a game and I wanted to have a light on so I could see a strategy guide or something. I am sure that going to the ae3000u would give me a gigantic leap from what I have (the in72 is a 480p projector after all) but my question is, will the ax200u also be a huge leap?

I think 480p material looks "Good" on my screen (also a 106") and my projector is only capable of 720p, and the difference is night and day......
If you can swing the ae3000u It'll be a HUGE difference, but if you can get a good price on the AX200u (I'm seeing them for around $900) I'd pick one up..... I think if you can control the light, it's silly to pay more for a projector that has features to help you watch it with ambient lighting ![]() |
