Can we have a +1 button please?

Sometimes someone writes a post or makes a good point so it would be good if there was a +1 button we could press next to the post. So it could say "4 users said +1 to this post" or "4 users think this post makes a valid point" or some similar type of system. Maybe you are only given a certain amount of +1 button presses available per day/week so the system doesn't get overused.

LMAO! I'm sure you'll find many would love to have this feature. Or make it so that vBulletin reads "+1" as a blank post and that you have to add more to it before you can make it a post itself.

It will just become a status symbol and people will post in hopes of achieving "plus 1's". Not sure it adds anything of substance here.

Besides, if we give you a "plus 1" button, then we have to give the option of a "negative 1" button. Then things will really get ugly. I'm talking Condoleezza Rice and David Letterman making out and having their gap tooths lock together ugly.

But yeah, we considered a "Plus 1" button some time ago, but we couldn't figure out how to make your computer *****slap you once you clicked it. Millions of dollars and years of development down the drain...

I have to agree with you on that Josh, if you can get the slapping down I'd say implement it, I know ive personally wanted to hurt people for going +1 in posts many times.

I felt if I could concentrate enough physic energy at the poster that would refrain them but alus it doesn't work.

There's no need for a -1 button, we could just a +1 button. It if highlights the truly excellent posts where tens/hundreds of people say +1 against, it should probably benefit the site and lead to more excellent well-said posts, or ones that are the most informative.

That already exists on the News threads - where you can give a Plus or Minus to rate each comment on a news item. But my idea would be for a +1 on forum posts, and no minus -1s - and there could be a limit to how many +1 votes you gave per day/week as I said.

If this is used, I don't recommend a negative option. On the news pages you can see how well that's working out. On Wall E someone went in and hit negative on every single person's comments. I am assuming it's because they didn't like the movie, but is that really what the +/- options are for? Anywho, I ended up voting the people back up (also probably not what the + is for, but oh well).

Well that depends. Are you saying it should be rated a 2? Beta's 1 plus your own, or were you simply concurring? I think the thread Star rating is certainly the way to go on this one, I'd hate to encourage more usage of '+1'
