Default Friday the 13th Part 3 in Blu-Ray!!! 3-D!! - June 16, 2009

This is gppd for Friday the 13th fans.

Quote:
We just got a very cool scoop from a spy who got to chat with Friday the 13th 3-D supervisor Martin Sadoff recently. He revealed to us that he’s in the process of trying to get the film released onto Blu-ray in its original 3-D format!

"Blu-ray 3-D is happening right now," Sadoff told us. "It's a new medium. There are many many major players in home television involved right now. I have seen a lot of home 3-D, and in my opinion it equals the theatrical experience, if not better."

Sadoff also confirmed that a theatrical re-release has been discussed by the studio. "About 2 years ago, Paramount Pictures called me up that they wanted to do a D-Cinema release of Friday the 13th in 3-D,” he revealed. ”We met with the new Viacom management and went back and forth and they said 'Well, the movie's really old and people don't remember it.' But now that they're remaking it, I hope there will be new interest."

We’ll be keeping tabs on how this one develops, of course. Sure, Friday the 13th 3-D isn’t exactly the pinnacle of the series or 3-D technology, but the nostalgia value alone makes up for it, don't ya think?

This would be sweet for a movie theater to re show this movie in 3d. They should also show jaws 3. I bet if they just did this for a weekend a bunch of people would show up. If they did this the weekend right before the new friday the 13th came out that would be bad ass

The movie that would be fantastic on blu-ray in 3-d would be vincent price's house of wax but one part of the print is gone and warners 4-channel stereo surround tracks are not available ether.

Only the original film has been announced for Blu so far. Parts 2 and 3 were only announced for DVD. But I'm sure Blu will get them later next year.

Hopefully this will happen soon (a Blu-ray release). I will be in line to purchase the film, as it will be a lot of fun to see it in 3D.

Amityville 3-D! One of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies had a 3-D segment too, don't remember which one. Starchaser: the Legend of Orin, Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (with Molly Ringwald), Metalstorm:the Destruction of Jared-Syn... Most these were terrible movies and I think only the 3-D is what got some people to see them in the theater. Spacehunter wasn't too bad though, caught that one on cable a long time ago, but if I saw it again now, I might change my mind about it.

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (part 6) had a brief 3-D segment.

The feild sequetial version for shutter glasses was actually released on Japanese VHD with forced Japanese subs & then there were bootleg transferes made & circulated for years. The 3D work fairly well, but the picture qulity & artifacts kinda ruins some of the 3D effect in some bits. I don't think it was ever officially released for field sequential shutter glasses.

I recently noticed though that the old official 2D release initially released on DVD worldwide, was taken from the right camera source, while the 2D version provided on the newer red/blue 3D "deluxe edition" DVD (& Bluray) released in the U.S. is taken from the left camera source. With those two you basically have what you need to create a version in an over under or side by side format to work on the new 3D TVs & the first DVD quality true stereoscopic version. I'm surprised noone else has thought of it or bothered to try. I'm not very savvy with video editing software & don't even have the time to attempt this. If someone were to do it though it'd be the studio's loss for not doing it properly in the first place though & ripping us off. It was not filmed for red/blue anaglyph 3D, hence the non working, non existent 3D on the so called "deluxe edition".

There is however a field sequential to side by side conversion out there, but it's terrible. It's basically a conversion of an already poor quality VHD to DVD transfer, so it's like 3rd generation from an already average quality source. And compared to the field sequatial source there's a lot of cross talk, rendering the 3D ineffective. The best thing is like i said to merge the 2 seperate DVD sources into an over under or side by side format. At least it'd be DVD quality, true anamorphic widescreen & with no forced subs

Paramount have never given these movies any respect, they treat them like some sort of bastard child. Constant half a**ed releases ripping fans off. They'll never relaase them all uncut or unrated. Parts 1 & 2 are my favourites & 2 is pretty much missing all the gore, especially that double impaling in the bed, which based on stills on the back of the old VHS shows a lot more than made it in the film. They were really hard on the series after the first one was released.
And don't hold your breath for a true Bluray 3D release of part 3. When i posted a question on the Paramount Pictures Facebook page, about if or when we're going to see a proper Bluray 3D release of part 3, they deleted my post & never bothered responding. Way to alienate the people that still actually spend money on film. There is no means of contact via email on there site either. I think Friday the 13th fans have made Paramount more money than any other franchise or movie they own. It's just disgusting. I can honestly say i will not be spending anymore money on anything Friday The 13th related unless we see uncut relases of parts 2 to 8 or a proper Bluray 3D release of part 3. They can go to hell.
