'Bad Moms' Christmas-themed Sequel Set for 2017

Stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn will all be returning in the STX Entertainment feature.

STX Entertainment has announced that the summer comedy breakout Bad Moms will be receiving a sequel in the form of a 2017 Christmas release.

A Bad Moms Christmas will be hitting theaters Nov. 3, 2017 and reunites stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Kathryn Hahn. The film will find the trio struggling with the stress of parenting during the holidays, made all the more taxing by their own visiting mothers.

Bad Moms was one of the year's highest grossing comedies, raking in more than $180 million worldwide at the box office. The Christmas themed sequel's script will again be penned by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, who wrote and directed the original film as well as writing the script for the raucous 2009 hit The Hangover.

Bell, who played a repressed and overworked mother in Bad Moms who finds her voice through the help of her friends, tweeted out an announcement for next year's film on Friday. "Get ready. It's about to get festive as a mother. A BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS coming for ya winter 2017!" the star wrote.

Hellboy 3, for starters. I also would have liked John Carter 2, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Time Bandits 2, RED 3, Twilight Watch (though Bekmembetov's plans to do it in English and add Americans in to the mix would have been a horrible idea), Black Dynamite 2, and Buckaroo Banzai vs. the World Crime League.

A few years back, there were plans for a Bridesmaids 2 but Wiig and Apatow refused to be involved so it was never made (also, Jill Clayburgh's death would have complicated things, as her character played a role in the main plot involving Annie's personal struggles). But even without Wiig, that still was a better idea than anything a Bad Moms sequel could ever come up with (I expect more sitcom plots* with half-hearted attempts at being edgy and/or raunchy).

* - I'm guessing this one will have something to do with Black Friday and Christmas decorations.

The movie didn't cost much and made good money, a sequel was bound to happen. I'm actually kinda happy that it'll be a Christmas movie. The Harold and Kumar one was surprisingly solid (not nearly as perfect as the original but significantly better than the second).

I love that we're getting a Christmas themed episode. But why must it be released on the very first weekend of November? What's wrong with releasing Christmas movies in December? It will be out of the Top 10 come December and not even playing anymore by Christmas.

Now see there. You know what all those films have in common? They didn't make much money. You need people to see a movie to make a profit and other films follow. That's the new trend today.

They just follow whatever is big and continue from there. Rather than create new things. Because they know their is a built in audience now for it. So it's a safer bet, and don't have to worry so much.

Christmas week is crowded, November gives it a better chance at the box office.

Rented the first one when it came out and liked it, although i am kinda disappointed they didn't mention Christina Applegate in the sequel,
