Ok heres my deal im getting a new imac for christmas... my old gateway 510 desktop i was thinking about turning into an audio server.. what i want to do is add another hard drive for it... it has the connector there for another hard drive and the power plug but there isnt a slot for it. I do have an open slot where the floppy drive use to be and or i could use one of the optical drive slots if needs be... do they make an odd sized hard drive that would fit into say a floppy drive slot or optical drive? I would need the storage drive to be around 500 gb as i have 400 gb of wav files...
I do have a portable drive but for convience sake id rather have everything inside...
I was going to get a soundcard with an SDIF out for 2 channel listening.. right now i can stream music to my ps3 from my computers portable storage drive but i find it loses something in the translation.

You can get rails to convert a 3.5" hard drive for a 5 1/4" bay. Check newegg, or tigerdirect for cheap options, or call a local computer repair shop. If you have a good receiver, look at getting a soundcard that can do 5.1 out to plug it to the receiver to really jam out.
