Default Too early for high-def, say retailers

http://www.videobusiness.com/article/CA6352218.html

Excerpt from the article:

Quote:
Finalized street dates have been trickling out for new releases, as major releases have been delayed due to quality concern issues. Batman Begins should street before fourth quarter on HD DVD, though Warner had originally expected it earlier this spring. A number of studios, including Fox and Buena Vista Home Entertainment, have yet to announce initial Blu-ray releases.

“Both retailers and studios are taking a wait-and-see approach, which is weird,” Saunt said. “I would think that the studios would be ramming this stuff down our throats. I’m surprised they are not pushing Blu-ray or HD DVD harder.”

it is shocking especially with the better content protection inherent in blu-ray and hd dvd.

Not a suprise really. In Oz titles are comming out in DVD at a great rate, the titles have dropped in price. People are buying up big totally unaware of what is around the corner. For the studios they are trying to get 2 bites at the cherry. If you are only using a 20" TV I guess it's a bargain as DVD will be more than good enough.

yeah but at least in the US in another 2 years you'll have to buy a digital tuner or a new tv and that will be subsidized but still analog is going away.
