Yes, Star Trek has always been about action that would never raise your heartrate enough to cause the slightest palpatation. It's been cheesy dialogue and one liners that a less-than-infinite number of monkeys could have churned out.

The only redeeming quality has been pretty good, morally redeeming, and hopeful, stories.

This Trek is during a time when the universe is a less civilized place, space is truly a frontier, and this motley crew of characters is going to find how they fit together as a crew.

Inertial dampeners be damned! Bring on the action, new visual effects, let Spock get really pissed off, Let's shake it up a little bit! As long as the story is still there, everything else should be gravy.

See the bootleg version here

It'll officially be up on Monday.
This one does not look like your average Startrek movie or TV series for that matter. This one's much more action oriented or so it seems based on this trailer.

Been a Trek fan since I was a kid. Still love the original series (1966-69). Loved The Next Generation, so so on Voyager, mostly liked DS-9, lukewarm to Enterprise.

The last 2 Trek movies havent been very good. Im skeptical on this one. But will go see it. Yes it will no doubt be heavy on CGI but do you expect them to do it like they did back in the late 60's? Or even in the 90's when they still used models and lots of camera movement?

Im not sure about the actors though.

Knowing the way studios work, that'll happen either the month before or the week of the theatrical release.

I've been a Star Trek fan since I was 6 years old. Started watching the old series as a French translation on the local tv channel in 1974. So for me Captain Kirk, Mister Spok & Doctor McCoy were part of the weekly Saturday morning TV ritual. As I learn English I got to watched them again. I must have watch the original series at least close to 50 times each episodes.

For me it's not Star Trek but some sort or reimagination of Star Trek. It doesn't follow the time line very well. Spock is actualy 13 years older then Kirk and so are Scotty & McCoy. Chekov should not even be there. It's actualy very strange the see the original crew in a very fast pace, fact action situation, the TV show actualy work on a much slower pace.

I will be going to see it however but I won't be thinking of this movie as part of the actual timeline of Star Trek. Sort of a reboot or hommage to the old series. Also for those who mention there seem to be a lot of sex, I would say go back and watch the old episodes and check out how much sex there was, it was more subdued, less graphic maybe but it was always there.

This is not a Star Trek film for the fans. It's a Star Trek film for the masses.

For an action movie, they should have stuck with Captain Archer... This guy got so seriously p155ed off he threw someone in an airlock and opened the valve!!!

Archer might be in this movie.

Because apparently his character dies the day after this Enterprise takes off for the first time. He would obviously be a very old man though.

I had my doubts about this WB teenie bopper version of a Star Trek movie but I will admit the trailer was good, real good.

I'm a huge Star Trek fan. I have all seasons of TOS, TNG, & Enterprise, all the movies, a few seasons of DS9 & Voyager. I even have the animated series DVDs...

I understand the concerns about continuity and breaking away from "canon", but I am still very anxious to see this film!

For me it's quite simple if JJ Abrams ( LOST ) is involved it's a must watch for me.

CGI crapfest?? Its sci-fi, its not going to be anything other than CGI heavy. Love the trailer, really looking forward to seeing the movie, buzz from those that have seen the 25min preview in the press is good. Looking forward to it.
