Default having trouble finding a region free blu ray player? help

I am a bit overwhelmed looking for region free blu ray players. There are so many. Do i need a 4k one or a 4k upscaling one? My friend tell me these players do not last long. Spending this much on a player is alot for me so I want to make sure I am making the right purchase.

Looking for:
Region Free Blu Ray/ DVD
Play the Arrow releases and kung fu imports.
Will last a while
Upscaling to 4k? I have a 4k Sony tv.
Preferably less than 250 ... 200 would be better.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

What??? Any piece of electronic equipment will last a long time if you take proper care of it.

Here is one of the ones I own from 220-electronics, they are out of Elk Grove Village, IL & it is holding up real well(I also have a 4k Sony tv, but I do not own a 4k blu-ray player as of yet).

Make sure you mark this if you buy:

I just got an LG multi-region blu-ray/DVD player from 220 Electronics. Definitely the easiest way to go region free for blu-rays.

In terms of multi-region players not lasting long, from my experience it depends on machine. I had a Samsung DVD that I hacked myself and it failed the same day. I have two Philips DVD players that I hacked myself and they have been working for at least 10 years. I should point out that I only use them for region 2 dvds.

PAL frame rate is slightly faster than NTSC. I always wondered if PAL dvds have to spin slightly faster than NTSC and if that could hurt the players having to switch between the two speeds. No science, just a thought...of course blu-ray may be completely different since the signal is digital...

You should check out the Seiki SR4KP1. It cost around $100 and can be made region free with just the remote control that comes with it, and doesn't need any hardware or software firmware mods.

I picked it up from the hardware store in Canada of all places so I don't know what retail stores in the USA carry it. It is for sale on Amazon.com's website. It might even be available locally for cheaper.

The player does 4K upscaling. But this isn't a feature you need if your TV does a good job of upscaling. The player feels more like a budget player than a premium built box. It is quick to start up DVDs and BluRays. There is no streaming apps built in. No wifi but it does have an Ethernet jack if you need BD Live features. The power cord is short at 3 feet. The remote feels ok. It isn't the most solid remote I have ever held or the lightest weakest.

To make the player region free, when the player is at the home screen with the company logo press the set up button and enter 8520. Than a region menu will appear where you can enter 0 for region Free DVD and or change the Bluray region setting to 1 for US/CAN, 2 Europe, and 4 Asia. You will have to manually change the Bluray region every time you want to play a BluRay from a different region. But you can set and forget the DVD region and it will play everything without needing to be changed again.

Bluray/DVD players don't care about framerates when reading data from the disc. If the data rate was high enough the disc would need to spin faster to read enough data to keep up with the playback speed. Commercial Blurays/DVDs are made to spec so this will never be an issue. Data rate is affected by the compression and not the frame rate. The data rates of commercial BluRay & DVD discs will always be within the limit of the read speed. The only time when you'll push the drive faster is when you fast forward or reverse or possibly when some java program is loading on a BluRay.
