Question HDMI connection problems--NEED HELP

Does anybody know what I could do to get a picture form my new Samsung player? I have tried two different HDMI cables and I get nothing. It's connected to a brand new 62inch Mitz 1080p DLP. I have switched between two different ports and still get nothing. I could really use some help.

Does your TV have 720p output? Cause that's what the Sammy is defaulted to instead of 1080i. If your TV doesn't have 720p and you haven't changed this setting you aren't going to get a picture.

I don’t know for sure if the TV has a 720 "setting", but I do know that I am able to view in 720. When I watch Direct TC (HD receiver) some of the channels are in 720 while others are in 1080i and 1080p and I get them all. I assume that the TV (Mitz) recognizes what signal is coming through and automatically adjusts. How do I change the setting on the Samsung from 720 to 1080? I should mention that when I connect the Samsung to the TV the HDMI indicator on the front illuminates. Are you saying that I still need to change a setting? Do you mean on the Samsung? If so how do I do this? Thanks in advance for all your help.

connect the player via component and go in and change your output to 1080i

Yeah also make sure that you have your player set up to output via HDMI and the tv set up to recieve via HDMI sometimes those have to be enabled.
