Default Contrast - light to dark problem?

Hello,

I did a search in the forum and couldn't find anything related to the issue I am having.

When watching Blu-Ray movies only, it seems that from one scene to another, the picture gets lighter or darker. Normally the scene will look great, then it will switch and seem slightly darker. It's particularly noticeable with the subtitles on. Upscaled DVD's along with PS3 games all look fine.

I am using a PS3 20Gb and a Phillips 42" LCD 1080p TV connected via an HDMI cable. Has anyone heard of this or is this happening to anyone else?

Thanks for your time!

the tv mostlikly has a dynamic contrast setting (the backlight will fluctuat depending on what is on the screen) ... turn that off & then calibrate
