I remember years ago my family and relatives watching it on VHS (early 80s) - probably at least 10 people in the room laughing harder than I'd ever seen.

I'm praying, above all else, Shout gives Dragnet a fresh release.

I can't think any single movie has more memorable one liners in one scene than the car/joint scene?

It was definitely one of my favorites as a young teen. I used to watch it constantly back then and quote the movie. I'd also search the web for wav files of the one-liners. Still enjoy the movie for what it is but it doesn't really make me laugh out loud much at all anymore.

Criterion should grab Up In Smoke. That one is an absolute classic

Without wanting to get too political, I honestly wonder whether now would be a really good time or a really bad time to put that movie back out.

I just rewatched this a few weeks ago wondering why there was no C+C on blu-ray. Anyone who watches this film with a sharp eye knows that Chong was into directors like Fellini and Cassavetes. There are many cool offbeat moments and it is really closer to the spirit of their albums than Up In Smoke was.

I just watched this a few days ago. I absolutely love the first half minutes of the movie, but once Cheech's cousin shows up, it really fell off the cliff for me.

Hopefully this will pave the way for other C&C releases, though.

Not to turn this into a "***** about Up In Smoke not being out" thread, but what is it that Paramount has against putting out old stuff?

Wow. Can't wait for this.

I know it won't happen but I'd love to see a complete set of all the films.

This one's definitely nowhere near Up in Smoke, but it has a handful of great scenes. The one Noirfan posted was the first thing I ever saw from one of their movies, and it totally holds up. Michael Winslow is an american treasure.

I have no f*****g clue but its infuriating! There's so many titles that I still need from them. I was hoping they were going to do a 40th anniversary release for The Bad News Bears last year but they didn't even release a quality barebones release. Angers the hell out of me.
