Yeah, and a shoddy bitrate of 10 Mbps too. MediumRare will likely do a bog standard job but the bitrate should be at least twice that.

Might pick it up eventually though, but not rushing to buy it unless a review proves me wrong.

How are these two getting what I'd consider quite decent titles?

Dunno, both have Universal deals it seems. I suppose they're whatever Arrow weren't interested in? Mostly comedies, slightly obscure thrillers and B-movies (not that Arrow have never released any of those).

Exactly, Darkman screams Arrow.

Could be also that the masters aren't up to scratch for Arrow these days and they can't get access/permission to redo or don't think it's worth it.

Yeah, I reckon they really pushed Universal to let them do a 4K scan of The Thing (unless it turns out to be the same IP that Shout were lumped with rather than OCN).

Probably makes sense for them to put more effort into concentrating on less problematic Universal off-the-shelf masters, and titles they could legitimately produce worthwhile extras for.

However, it is quite surprising how many strong titles MediumRare have managed to get to date - particularly Darkman, Cat People, and somehow even The Last Temptation of Christ. But these are all no doubt the same tired studio masters, so probably titles Arrow passed on because it'd be an uphill battle trying to restore them in-house (though they're in a better position now).

So did anyone ever find out what the situation was with their Last Temptation disc? Just the Universal UK Blu again?

Can't ever find anything on it. But, I'm just guessing it is the same as the Universal UK blu, with Criterion's artwork.

Most of their catalogue you can get elsewhere. The only one I might buy would be Peter Greenaway's "Drowning by Numbers", since it's pretty rare.

I really want to import this. America is no longer getting many classics on Blu-Ray like the rest of the world. Do we know if there is at all a chance for this to be region free? Anyway to contact the company behind this release to find out?

If anyone picks up Small Soldiers Blu-Ray release from these guys, please find out if it's region free or not and post here. I'd like to pick up a copy but can't find any information anywhere and no company website.

It seems that Mediumrare will release Heavy Metal and Blind Fury.

Exactly that. Aside from an additional DVD copy and Criterions artwork, it's the same transfer as the Universal release.

Already have the Oz disc of Blind Fury, but there are no extras on that, so if this does then it's a likely pick up

But what does it offer in contrast to the Sony disc?
