Default How do you find out about movies you see?

Do you just see previews and go if the preview looks appealing?

Or do you try to search the internet and go based on reviews/ how interesting the film sounds?

Whatever sounds good. Rarely do I get pumped for a movie from a preview (unless it's something obviously awesome). But I have to say, I swore off all Jim Carrey movies cause he just doesn't do funny one's anymore. But, just saw the trailer for YES MAN. Almost fell off my seat. Looks like Carrey is BACK.

I wish he would do more serious roles

Well for one thing, trailers before the movie you are going to see tell you about new features. The internet of course, with cinema sites showing you what will come in the future with trailers and sites such as this one where people discuss new movies which sometimes I had not heard about. Since most American releases come to America first, it makes it more likely for any new feature discussed, to be one that I have not heard about just yet.

It takes a lot to get me out to theaters these days. I usually just watch older movies unless great reviews convince me to see something. This is because I'm mostly disappointed with a lot of movies.

Previews, actors in it, genre, is it part of a series, director. There's a lot that makes me decide wether or not to go.

The trailer sets it up. If after it shows I go "Sounds good." I usually go home see who's attached to it and find out the plot. 9 times out of 10 if I'm impressed with the trailer I go and see it.

i very rarely listen to what a critic has to say. if the trailer does a good job of peaking my interest, i'll give it a shot. otherwise, i'll trust my gut instinct about a movie and first impression.

Mostly through reading and just following connections. For example, I liked Babel so I thought I would check out other movies of the same director. From there I watch Amores Perros and realized that it had Gale Garcia Barnal in it and I remembered him from The Motorcycle Diaries. So then I decided to check out some of his other movies like The King, etc.

I am constantly adding more movies to watch, often just from the choices of the actors, writers, and directors of other movies I liked. I am constantly adding movies to watch to my rental queue, most of them DVD as usually most of the movies I stumble on are not on BD yet.

Also, I have some friends that may have similar tastes as me, so any movie they suggest then I will watch and vice versa. then we argue which ones we thought were good or crap.

it varies, as i get info from a variety of places. internet, television, trailers, magazines, newspapers, and so and so on. i usually will plan to go see movies that i already know i have an interest in from movies in that same genre that i have seen and liked before. if the trailer comes out though and it's not what i thought i may not go to the movie then. i can usually tell what i like and don't like based on past experience. for example, i know that i usually like a lot of the summer movies so i will go so those. i also know that i couldn't stand atonement at all and will avoid movies that i feel are like that or of that type. i also try to avoid movies with actors i don't like in it. i love comic book movies, but only go to the ones whose characters interest me. i had no interest the comic book ghost rider so i never saw the movie. that's about it.

I love watching trailers, critic reviews (although they never discourage me from seeing a movie, they often will encourage me to see ones i otherwise wouldn't have known about), reading up about them on sites like rottentomatoes and imdb, etc.

Yeah Rottentomatoes is my SITE ha, and I have saved a lot of money due to that site. (deciding to see a movie in the dollar theater opposed to paying 10 bucks a ticket)
