Thumbs up MonoPrice cables arrived today.....

I have to say I'm impressed. I ordered an HDMI to DVI converter cable and three sets of rca cables for the 7.1 analog out in the Sony S550 and these are very robust cables. I still cannot beleive I got them so cheap. I was comparing them to my monster cables and they are alot thicker. These cables are 2x thicker than the ones for sale at Best Buy for 6x+ the price. That website is a real goldmine. I'm estimating 73$ saved in cables alone.

After hooking everything up I have to say that my Panasonic 53" crt has never looked this good! The 7.1 sound is really nice form the analog outputs, and the upconversion job it does to 1080/60i is really stunning. I was watching a standard DVD of "The Matrix II" this evening in 1080/60i, and had no idea the difference it could make, although I have to say it made the CGI fight scenes look more computer annimated than watching it in 480p.

Thank you to everyone here on the forums that helped me figure out what the hell I was doing. After hooking up all the cables and getting the converter HDMI cable (replacing the component cables), every standard DVD upconverts now - flawlessly. And the Sony S550 does it extreamly well.

Thanks again guys!

I was just about to start a new thread about monoprice. Don't mean to thread jack and congrats on the new system setup, glad your happy!

But, whats the difference in there cables. ie: 22awg vs 24 and 28 (I know thats the size and the lower the thicker), and silver plated and tin plated (I know silver is better) but is it worth it?, and they also have flat cables??

Basically I need 2 cables for in wall installation, 1 30ft and 1 35ft. What cables would you suggest?? I normally use bluejeans cables but this will only be used for splitting from my satalite box to a bathroom LCD and my office LCD.

if you are running these cables in a wall you need purchase the ones that are "in wall" certified. Not all cables meet that criteria.

The cables that come with the external "jacket" are very stiff and have a larger turning radius. I had a problem with routing these but I fixed the issue by removing the jacket with an exacto knife.

The flat cables are designed to run along a base board or under carpet.

I understand all that. I have been looking only at "in wall". In fact, the flat cables are rated in wall as well. They just offer too many cables at different prices with little to no explanation IMO. Especially when you get into the longer lengths... I mean I could pick about 6 different cables in the length I need, and there website doesn't explain much. At least with BJ cables, they explain in detail each level of cable, what it's best used for, and maximum distance it can be ran with out signal loss.

I had the same feeling when I was looking for cables from thome, I was overwhelmed with the quantity of different cables. But once u browse through them slowly and think of what u need they have exactly that i different lengths. Go for 24 or 28, either is good, 24 will b harder to work with, then pick either inwall or normal, then pick the lenght that u want. Once u know what u want there's not that many choices, even most of the time it'll b out of stock if it's one of the popular ones and then think, why the one that "I" need.

I think all my cables are monoprice now.

They have been my one stop shop for years now.

I helped my step dad put together a home theater and was a bit annoyed after he bought a $29.99 HDMI cable on the same day that Mono-price had a comparable HDMI cable on special sale for under $2. (The Teal one if anyone remembers.)

I had shown him the web site and everything but the cable he bought was marked down from $79.99 or something so he figured he was getting a hot deal.

Oh well,... I tried.

Monoprice.com has two other affiliates: EHDMI.com and EBuyHD.com. You get exactly the same cables. I like eBuyHD's web page better than Monoprice. It is a little easier to find products.

I live about 25 minutes away from their headquarter in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

Yeah, when I'm looking for Audio/Video/Network cable they're the first place I go to. Not only they have the best price, they have the fastest shipping also and I live on the East coast.

Did you get your order yet? How long did it take, including the customs holdup?

Nova - I've used them a couple of times. Delivery to Canada can be slow (a week to 10 days if I remember correctly), but well worth it
