PREDATOR - GET TO DA CHOPPA......................

Video Quality:
I am sorry to say, that I am a little disappointed with the picture quality on this Blu-ray edition of Predator. I really like the movie and I am under the impression that this is still a popular movie. I simply expected FOX to do a better job here. It has nothing to do with this being a BD-25 disc or the use of Mpeg2. Compression artifacts are generally not a problem. It lacks sharpness making some shots look flat and lacking in depth. Also the quality is inconsistent throughout the movie. Noise is generally not a problem, but in moments there too much of it, which can make the picture seem a little unclear. Fleshtones are largely accurate; at times they are little on the red side. I know it's and old movie, but I have seen better jobs done than this. It's still a pretty good upgrade from the DVD version, but I miss the real High-def feeling.

Audio Quality:
While the Video Quality may not be of the best, I am happy to report that listening to the audio quality from this Blu-ray edition alone makes it worth the buy. The music is rich an open, with the surrounds frequently coming alive with both music and gunfire. Do to the sound design envelopment is strong when you see things through the eyes of the Predator. Voices don't sound closed and compressed like many other old movies. Of course it lacks compared to modern sound tracks but still FOX did a really good job making this movie come alive on the audio side.

They cost me $55 each but at least we don't use security stickers here in Denmark

Did each of those cost you $55? Must be very expensive in Denmark, I hope I don't move there. I'll be getting Independence Day in March as well as Commando and Predator. But I don't think it'll cost US consumers $55 because I won't pay for it if it did

Will you be interested in purchasing my copy of Thirteen Ghosts (Blu-ray)? It's region free so your player will have playback on it. I'm asking for $29.99 but it was viewed once by me. It comes with everything including the case

I can do it tomorrow, but there isn't much to see. Predator and Ronin comes in a BD-25 edition with the only extrax being a "Trailer".

ID4 comes in a BD50 edition with the following extras:
  • Scene Specific Audio Commentary by director Roland Emmerich and Producer Dean Devlin
  • Audio Commentary by Oscar Winning FX Supervisors Volker Engel and Dough Smith
  • Trivia Track
  • Alien Scavenger Hunt (Java Game)
  • Gag Reel
  • Theatrical trailers and Fantastic Four trailer

HD-DVD costs from $45 and up to $69 for some Universal titles. Many Universal titles doesn't even come with a danish cover.

Are the overseas versions of ID4 the extended edition or the regular theatrical version. I wsa really excited about ID4 until I found out the US realease was only the theatrical version.

Awesome! Bit of a high price tag there, so I am pretty glad we'll see US releases of Predator and ID4... anyways, enjoy watching them and please let us know how the quality is...
