Oh, and the Spidey 2 UHD will likely be the theatrical cut, so let the b*tching about the lack of 2.1 commence! Eh.
I'm hoping for a boxset with al three movies too. Can't wait to see the first one!

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't that 2.1 had (in part) something to do with a headbutt that got cut out of all European releases because of the BBFC's guidelines? I just hope they will put that back in as it's supposed to.

The Mi4k blu is already the theatrical cut of Spidey 2 so I have readjusted to it. I do miss a couple things but at this point it's ancient history.

That was only the original 2.1 DVD release, as the movie was passed uncut years ago. Heck, even the first Blu-ray edition from 2007 was uncut so you're worrying about nothing.

Wow, great news. First day for me -- for all 3. And if they offered ASM 1 -- I'd buy that too.
I never have and will never own ASM 2.

Sure hope there is a 3-pack!

As usual, theatrical's better anyway. Not that 2.1 was a disaster, but other than some extra bits in the train fight I can't remember anything significant it added.

2.1 has its moments, good and bad. The way Osborn just REPEATEDLY brings up negativity is redundant, and that's slightly 2.1's fault. JJJ in the Spidey suit is another issue, it takes away from the film's pace and momentum. Honestly, the more I look at that page, the more I think about how well that film was edited, and how some really bad decisions were handled pre-release.

When someone finds out, they'll be sure to post in here. People love gettin' the scoop, but at this point, it's conjecture and guesses (some being educated guesses, such as movie-cash tie-ins for Homecoming 2-3 weeks prior), and those do us little to no good, just like people assuming Shout will do a sale in May just because one Amazon deal of the week last year in May had their titles.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" comes to theaters on July 7. Dollars to doughnuts they are released prior to that, with my money being on it being in June as well.

The 2.1 cut was basically just a marketing gimmick to sell another DVD of the movie before Spider-Man 3 hit theaters. That was around the height of DVD popularity, when it was most typical for studios to release those "Unrated Extended Cut" reissues and squeeze the most money out of popular titles.

I think in an interview Raimi even said something along the lines of "the studios want us to thrown in some extra action for the kiddies." To his credit, I did like that he didn't just insert deleted footage, but replaced scenes with alternate versions and ideas, making it more of an alternate what-if version than just your typical extended cut. But the theatrical cut is definitely the real director's cut of the film.

Looking at that page I think the things I missed on the Mi4k disc were the extra train battle footage and the birthday party dialog. Not a huge deal though really.

Wasn't the (superb) Doc Oc surgery scene slightly re-cut in 2.1 as well? I seem to remember it being cut differently if not actually extended much.

Does anyone have the links to the pre-orders? The OP links just go to a site that doesn't even sell the items.

Can't wait for these. The Raimi trilogy is overall fantastic. I even quite like SM3 despite it's faults. I've grown much more appreciative for it since the ASM movies released.

Sent from my communication device on which I hardly do any communicating.

Well I hope they announce the Raimi movies as a set at a slightly lower price than three separate. And toss in ASM 1 for me and I can get it close to the Amazon 6 month no interest deal. I can barely afford anything but somehow I will manage to double-dip my favorite movies.

C'mon Sony just announce them already! -- it's March and the presumed release is in June.

Just noticed on the UK video association website that Raimi's Spider-Man and ASM1 are slated for a UK UHD release on the 24th and 23rd of June respectively. No sign of Raimi's second or third Spidey movies though.

I wonder if Homecoming will be the first MCU film on the UHD format? Will Disney allow Sony to beat them to that?
