I did a forum search for 73835, and nothing. Has anyone seen this TV? This is Mitsubishi's top of the line DLP. I was at Best Buy today, and WOW.

when will these sets hit the market i really want to see these tv's. i still wish mitsu and sammy made these tv's smaller, starting from 50" again not at 61". cause i don't need a big 61" in my bedroom. my son has a 32" LCD i hate that tv when it's off it still made this high pitch sound its very low but when its real quiet u can hear it. and the heat they generate is just plain stupid. thats why i want a smaller RPTV.

Mistu makes some good DLPs. I'd say go for it - you may not be the envy of plasma-owners here but I see a lot of $10k sound systems paired with measly 40" from 12 feet away. While I have a 40" LCD too, I haven't invested in a huge sound system. And you're right that depth shouldn't be an issue. If you have your flat-panel on a stand (and who doesn't if you have a receiver and center channel to worry about?) might as well not worry about that 17" depth. Bang for buck, I say!

Edit: Also wanted to add that the Diamond DLP line is not really worth the price increase at MSRP rates for what is added. DLP's have less than 1ms lag time so 120Hz is not necessary as there should not be any problems with refresh rates. Go with the Medallion unless you can et a good deal on the Diamond. I have been viewing a Samsung 56" DLP for several years and love it. Plasmas & LCD's have the "wow" factor since you can wall mount them, but DLP's have as good, and in many cases better picture quality then the flat screens.
I sold wide screen TV's for commerical applications for several years and for bars; yes, plasmas are a good choice. For the home owner, DLP's offer the biggest bang for the buck and provide true HD picture quality. And keep in mind that if my picture quality ever degrades in 5-10 years, all I have to do is replace the light bulb and I will in essence have a new TV. You cannot do that with a plasma! There's a huge difference between the current DLP (Digital Light Processing) and the old rear projection big screens. DLP's use millions of chips to provide the image. In my humble opinion, if anyone looks down on a DLP TV, they are not fully informed. tonkabay_guy |

my tv for a 60" is only 1500 before taxes and interest, so i didnt think it was a bad deal for a tv this huge.

"I did a forum search for 73835, and nothing. Has anyone seen this TV?"
Yes, I picked one up last November. Since it has both good PQ and is the biggest mass-produced TV out there, it is my favorite that you can get. I hope one day that Blu-ray starts supporting the 3D features of this TV. I'm always amused when people on this forum complain you can't wall mount it as that would put the TV even further away from you and 73" isn't all that big. In my living room an 80" or 90" would be a better size. Eric Klien Lifeboat Foundation +1 (775) 329-0180 Voice +1 (775) 329-0190 Fax Skype ID lifeboathq http://lifeboat.com |
