I'd like to know what kind of prizes this card generates. Currently I have a Best Buy Reward Zone MC: 4% back from BB purchases, 2% on gas and grocery, 1% everything else.

For Credit cards in general: I don't regard them as the problem, after all, it's very difficult to shop online or travel without one. The real problem is irresponsible consumers, and the solution is to not be one.

Well the SonyCard I have gives you 1 point per pound you spend. You can then use those points to get pretty much anything Sony makes. I myself so far have managed to acquire a television, the eye-toy for my PS2 and some earphones. I would assume the Playstation card would concentrate more on just giving PlayStation goodies and Blu-rays.

Also with the SonyCard if you bought a Sony product you would get 3 times the points if you mailed them the receipt, they might do something similar with this.

I dont know why everyone is scared of credit cards? They are a good thing I have like 5 credit cards and never spend that much if you open a credit card and spend 5 dollars on it a month you will be improving your credit rating HUGE instead of not having any credit open and be in that boat. I have had one since I first turned 18 never got into debt with it I use it as a means to build my credit which is thankfully really high. This also helped when I bought my car used and got a rate of 5.9% on a 5 year loan. The benefits if you are "responsible" outweigh the negatives of not having any credit. But to each their own.

good luck getting approved for this if you don't have a credit history already. Chase bank does credit cards for A LOT of companies, including the Amazon card. I tried to get that and was denied. I have zero credit history. My own bank that I've used since I was 14 can't even give me a card because they go through a third party for their credit cards and that third party declines me. These card deals are only good for people who have a credit history that will allow them to be approved.

I am scared of credit cards. First I don't like a card that will push me to spend what I don't have which is the very reason of the card: to have credit.
I would rather have a debit card aka bank card and not spend beyond the money I actually have. Also credit cards are fine until some genius hacker steals the information on it and uses it or sells it or whatever. Add to that the fact I don't have to pay interests on a debit card since I only spend what is mine and not what the bank lends me by means of credit.
Now credit cards can be handy in places like amazon.com since they don't take other means of payment so I think they should be more flexible and take money transfers. But as you say, to each his own.

Fine with me. Never asked for a credit card which means I don't have a credit history which means I would be refused such a card which is fine since I don't want to have one.
But just out of curiosity, How can one have a credit history if one has never been in possession of a credit card which one cannot have since one has no credit history ?

Yeah, exactly. So now when I finally go to buy my first NEW vehicle, or rent/buy a house, I'll probably have to get yanked around and have my Dad co-sign with me. Even though I'll be like 25+ years old by that time....

I even had to fight with Clearwire just to get some internet because they check credit history and I don't have any. I would love to have a rewards card of some sort, Especially the Amazon card. I'm very responsible and non-impulsive with my money and I would do every well with one. But I can't seem to get one

**I'm 22 right now**

I have several credit cards. I have the Best Buy card (6 months no interest for transactions $500+, sometimes more during promotions), the Target card (10% off spending sprees...less impressive these days than when I got it), and the Amazon card (I pay it off immediately and use it just to get the quirks). I had the Reward Zone Mastercard from Best Buy but I had a yearly feee because I somehow wasn't approved for the Platinum...despite my outstanding credit report. I cancelled it shortly after.
I only have a balance on the Target card and I plan on having that paid off within 3 months. I keep raising my limits on all 3 as often as possible, even though I seldom use them for anything major. I plan on buying a house here in CA this upcoming year so I need all the help I can get!
