It would probably be better to compare the amount of CC debt one has to their annual salary. $5,000 might be a huge amount to some, but just a week or two's pay to others.

My CC debt is usually less than 5% of my annual salary... and I usually pay it off in a month or two.

Same here, except I never used credit cards. I have a debit card which is safer.
Yeah the mortgage is indeed another thing. But I can't complain. I'm good at managing my budget and all is under control, well so far

ZERO. It is nice. I use mine for everything to earn points, etc, but always pay them off as soon as they post due. Using the monthly but paying off the balances also helps your credit score.

too damn much (and I didn't use CC over the holidays) and I have curbed my spending habits big time

Working on paying them down - we took a few vacations and then had something unforseen occur (like wife lost her job) and accrued some debt with car repairs and higher fuel prices...

Income tax return is slated to paying down the debt

$0.

We have a rewards card that we use for everything (groceries, gas, EVERYTHING), but we pay it off every month and never carry over a balance. The rewards get me BB gift cards, which allowed me to buy a 42" Panny Plasma for around $300 a couple of months ago

We have several other cards as well to boost our debt/credit ratio, but we never touch them.

You might want to start using them to buy gas occasionally. I've had a few of my cards that I haven't used in a while closed recently due to inactivity. I think CC companies are really tightening their belts. I think they may be doing it to everyone because me CS is over 800.

I just bought a new TV and bed, so I am down $3,000 right there.

But the real monsters in my wallet are my car payment and my school loans

Paying off my wedding, its expensive to get married in Maui, but other than that nothing. As far as debt goes a car loan.

Approx 7g's. I went through a nasty divorce a couple of years ago and as a result, I had to use my card to cover some of my legal expenses. Plus I lost almost everything I had so the first couple of months I had to charge it up just for everyday needs, expenses, etc. I'm chipping away at it though.
