Default PS3 Euro price cut incoming?

SonyStyle UK have reduced the price of the 80GB console from £299 to £259.

Right now Sony UK are saying it is a a decision they have not made and it is the decision of the SonyStyle shop, but there are big penalties for any shop which sells a PS3 for that much under the RRP.

Edit: Link

That would be a cute price! Is this going to translate into a cut coming state-side?

about $50

1euro = 1.27 USD so at $299 the ps3 is $379 there, cheaper than the ps3 in the states.

at that price the ps3 in the states could be $328...

It could signal a cut to $325 in the US if this is carried through WW.

Not so much. If Sony want to compete in December, but also want to limit any damage from losses, then this is a good way of doing it.

Well maybe for Europe then, MS has been quick to come out with some we're outselling them 2-1 every week so yeah that could help things a bit there.

Perhaps Canada still being at CAD$399 even after a large change in the value of the CAD against the USD is another sign.

Right now, the PS3 80GB sells for CAD$399 (under US$320)

I see it coming to the US after the holidays. Europe has a better exchange rate from japan. That is why there is no shortage of Wiis there while there is here in the states.

Don't know.

I think the test will be whether Amazon UK follow suit in the next couple of days. If they do it is official.

I'd make a few calls, but it's kind of late!

Seems that Shin Ra didn't seem to like me pointing this out in a separate thread, but I guess here is as as good as anywhere.
Is Sony going to react to the 3 to 1 sales ratio of Black Friday vs 360 (according to MS, but unofficial numbers seem to corroborate this. We'll see with the NPD numbers anyway)? To me it would make sense.

Let's hope for a $325 price, although $299 would be best, but I guess it's probably still too early for that.
