Japanese and North American BR releases at same time - Blu-ray Forum

I've noticed that starting this December BR's are being released pretty much at the same time in Japan and N.A. i.e. TDK. I used to always have to wait at least a few months, sometimes six. How come all the sudden they're able to release globally at the same time?

More movies are having simultaneous global theatrical releases. The release of the home video versions are tied to when a movie premieres at the theaters.

It makes sense considering that both regions of the world have the same region coding "A".

Yeah but having the same BR region previously hasn't meant much. It's like Japan was always at least 4 months behind because they had to do their translation stuff or something. Why all the sudden are they able to release at same time when since the release of BR format up until now there was a huge delay?
