Default A.F.D. AUTO - How To get Rid Of It

I am using an STR-DG820 Receiver, and i have the BDP S300 set to PCM so surely it should say "LCPM" on the receiver instead of this A.F.D. AUTO thing whatever that is? anyone else noticing this?

On my Sony AVR, the source audio shows up for only a couple of seconds on the display, but you can tell by looking at the "small print" on the display what the source is. Though, when on A.F.D (which is essentially unaltered source) it reverts back to displaying the input, rather than the sound source.

If AFD auto and the blue light shows up, you are getting mutlichannel PCM.

Mine will flash LINEAR PCM, DTS-HD MSTR, or whatever the codec is when it starts receiving the signal.

Then it will display the input on the display in the large text, with the codec in smaller text. It is set to AFD Auto though.

^^ yep mine too, then it changes and goes back to saying BD, SAT or whatever it is.

Jason, Man I love this receiver soooo much, I had the BD of Incubus over LPCM today playing and my wife was answering the phone, and I had it up to -6dB cause I wanted to see if it would lose power or distort, and I couldn't see her, she was screaming at the top of her lungs to turn it down and I couldn't even hear her. It was soo loud. there was 0 distortion and it wasn't losing any power. So clean the sound, MAN, I love this receiver.

The 820 does not have the blue light. Does it ever say Linear PCM when playing a movie? It should when it first starts receiving the codec.

Ohh ok thanks, yes it does say LINEAR PCM for like the first 5 seconds of the movie and then goes to the annoying A.F.D. AUTO thing
