Default Confirmation that the PS3 60GB is out of production.

As I mentioned in a earlier post that the PS3 60GB unit is currently out of production. Here is a weblink that verifies the 60GB PS3 is out of production.
http://www.tvpredictions.com/sony071707.htm

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Hardware/High-Def_Retailing/High-Def_Gaming/Sony/PlayStation_3/Sony_Confirms_Plans_to_Phase_Out_60GB_PS3/774

The 80GB PS3 coming in August will sale for $599 but rumors suggest that possible by October or when the 60GB PS3’s are out of stock that the price will fall to $499.
The 60GB model has the hardware emulation for PS1 and PS2 games, most likely the 80GB will only be software emulation for PS1 and PS2 games.
Experts are predicting that in 2008 the PS3 80GB model will be cut to $399.

It's all good if they have a product of some kind at no more than $499 for Christmas.

If they don't, they will have sold 2.5-3.5 million new 60GB PS/3 by then. Sony have tons of unsold 60GB shipped and ready to go.

^^

yup, true. I dont believe they have sold even 4M of the 5.5M shipped.

Interesting thing will be how long it takes for the "sale" to clear out backed up inventory of 60GB units, which must be at least 1.5M.

Do we really need 80 GB? I don't understand why they don't just keep the price low for a bit longer. I mean end this thing once and for all.

I'm still saving money for a PS3 this Christmas. So with the announcement on an 80 GB version, I won't have to buy a replacement Seagate Momentus anymore with 100 GB since the 80 GB will be sufficient enough for me

I'm a download *****, I have every video on the PS store, and I won't delete them. I need a 500GB hard disk to hold all of my stuff. I'm using 50 gigs of mine, but it's going to be filled up quickly..
