Taken UK Blu-ray 9th February

Fox Home Entertainment have announced the UK Blu-ray Disc release of Taken on 9th February 2009. Liam Neeson stars in this action thriller as an ex-secret agent who will stop at nothing to rescue his daughter from her Albanian kidnappers in Paris.

The Blu-ray Disc releases feature an extended, ‘harder’ cut than seen in cinemas and also offer the following extras:

Real Time MISSION intelligence BONUSVIEW Mode
The making of the film (18:20)
The Premier launch
Inside Action:
Peter dies (:48)
Bryan escapes construction site (3:04)

Sounds great especially the harder cut.

Cause it's Tartan it should come in a nice slim case. Did someone recently buy the tartan movie catalog

anyone know if this will be region free for our US blu-ray players.. been wanting to see this for along time now... fox will probably lock it, unless they lock it abc or something cool like that then i won't be upset hahahaa.

I have a feeling since the movie is being released in the US at the end of the month, and the UK Blu-ray is coming out a little more than a week after, it will most likely be locked.

Yes, apparently there is an extended torture scene and the UK certificate has been raised from '15' to '18' because of it.

I just wonder if the '15' cut is the same as the US PG-13 version...

It's also Fox, remember. And for further conformation, the French BD from Pathe Fox was confirmed locked on http://bluray.liesinc.net/

Looks like we in the USA will have to settle for the theatrical (cut to PG-13) version until the inevitable "Unrated"/"Extended Cut"/"Director's Cut" US BD arrives.

It's a shame as this looks really interesting.

I really hope this is region free. I have never imported a title but I wouldn't hesitate on this.

I still can't believe Fox edited this movie down to a PG-13 for our theatrical release. They are really beginning to piss me off with this and the Watchmen situation.

The thing is I have seen the international rated R version and there is no nudity. From what I am hearing, from people who have seen both versions, they are cutting the violence. An example is the torture scene where two nails are shoved through a guys legs, I guess they are editing that sequence for the US.

I will be pissed if the UK release is locked and all we get is a watered down PG-13 version on bluray.

It is listed on amazon.com from 101 Distribution (Imports only), but they just took the date down and it is no longer available for pre-order. I worry that is will be locked like so many other Fox releases.
