Default What is up with FOX?

First the cancel all of their Blu-ray releases and haven't announced anything new and now they go and pull out of Comic-con. Strange...www.comingsoon.net

FOX has their panties in a bunch over potential piracy. Basically, the early adopters who are waiting with money in hand to buy their releases are getting the shaft so they can feel better about releasing their movies without people ripping and downloading 25+ GB discs. If they don't start announcing some titles soon I'm not buying anymore Blu-ray discs since it doesn't look like this format is going anywhere without continued support from the studios involved.

So ONE exclusive studio, out of four, doesn't release any, and you're ready to quit buying? One studio isn't currently supporting it, although they are developing some BD-J stuff, and the STUDIOS are supporting it. Sony, Lionsgate, and Disney are all releasing titles, and continue to announce more (like Cars in November).

Disney is also launching the Mall tour to get the Blu-ray word out to the normal consumer.

Where is your head man?! Did you just get back from vacation and didn't hear about the Disney tour? I come back to that because they are really pusing BD w/ that. Do a search on here for it if you haven't seen it, because it will definitely draw attention.

Why in the world would Fox be funding the new HollywoodInHiDef.com if they weren't going to be making a return in a big way?

Looks like support to me.

Well, I didn't spend $600 on a Blu-ray player to watch cartoons no matter how good the PQ. I was mainly looking forward to the Buena Vista releases such as Open Range which was supposed to be released in April but it's still a no show. It's just frustrating when you are willing to spend money and support the format but there is nothing to buy.

Question LORD of The Rings & Star Wars

Does anyone have an idea when and if these movies might pop out in Blu-Ray?

20th Century FOX Japan has just today announced "Rocky Balboa" Blu-ray to release on Oct. 5th.
Since FOX has video distribution rights of this title, Japanease version of "Rocky Balboa" Blu-ray to have DTS-HDMA audio track. And perhaps this is a sign of starting implementation of BD+ by FOX.

I found a few things to buy.

Drink some oolong tea and calm down. Can't you see the waterline receding? The tsunami is coming.

Buena Vista is part of Disney, not fox. Nothing to buy? I don't know what kind of movies you like, but there's a lot of titles coming, even without FOX there are some great titles coming.

Here's some movies that have release dates.

300
Arlington Road
Blades of Glory
Disturbia
Face Off
A Few Good Men
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Gods and Generals
The Jack Ryan Collection (4 Movies)
1.The Hunt for Red October
2.Patriot Games
3.Clear and Present Danger
4.The Sum of All Fears
Jailhouse Rock
National Lampoon’s Van Wilder
Next
Perfect Stranger
Remember the Titans
The Replacement Killers
Shooter
Smallville Season 6
Top Gun
TMNT
Troy: Director's Cut
Underworld: Extended Cut
We Are Marshall
Wild Hogs
Wyatt Earp
Zodiac

Upcoming Blu-ray Titles most likely this year
Bad Boys II
Blade Runner
Harry Potter 1-5
Pirates of the Caribbean 3
Spider-Man 1-3
Transformers

You also have to factor in New Line. They have just announce their first blu-ray title Hairspray. Which means we can look forward toward to;
Blade 1-3
Lord of the Rings 1-3
Lost in Space
A Man Apart
Rush Hour 1-3

But Like you I also wonder what’s going on with FOX, but I believe we’ll see them before Christmas. They would be stupid to miss the holiday rush.
At the very least they should put out Fantastic Four 2 and Live Free or Die Hard.

FOX does have a lot of great movies, but I can wait for them. I understand wanting security on Blu-ray, but to me FOX seems to be suffering from Paranoia.

Oh don't worry I would never in a million years buy into HDDVD, it's Blu or nothing for me. I don't like spending money on mediocre tech.

I just want to know why Fox have been announcing their titles with release dates in Europe and Japan, but not here? I'm confused, if piracy is the issue, and BD+ the answer, then hasn't that been worked out just by virtue of the fact they have bothered to announce titles in other territories?

So... what about the biggest market? You know? North America? Fox? Hello?
