Default the Help Poll Part II: Sony 60XBR2 or the 60A3000

so here's the deal. didn't get much of a response last time but i'm back at it again because it's crunch time. thought the sony vs. samsung poll was awesome so i'm blatantly ripping off the idea in hopes of securing my own board of advisors. i would really appreciate your input. what would you do if you were making the decision? i'd really like to know because a ton of you have a wealth of knowledge and i respect your opinions...this site is the best entertainment tech resource i've ever encountered. anyway...what to do...what to do...so here we go....

(both are rear projection sxrd's)

the 60xbr2 specs

the 60a3000 specs

thanks in advance. its a tough decision. ive said it once and i'll say it again - getting a tv is like getting a tattoo.

a3000

That XBR is last year model & this year sony has redone the SXRD's, they redesigned the light engine, higher contrast, 120hz + hdmi 1.3. The price is very good from what I was reading the 60a3000 was going to be $3500.

yeah thats what im thinking. the only thing that has me stuck on the xbr2 are the excellent ratings from owners, consumer reports and c-net. the a3000 is still shrouded in mystery but with those specs...it sounds legitimately awesome...its the one i want. but its the mystery that has me on edge. i have the xbr2 being delivered to my house...but i think im going to turn around and resell it. (bought it for 2800 which includes a 5 year extended warranty). thanks for your opinion and to all of you who have voted so far....

60A3000 currently selling for $3K direct after a $500 'price drop'.

I own the 60 XBR2 and it's the best TV purchase I have ever made. The only downside is that I don't believe it supports the HDMI 1.3 spec which I believe is supposed to facilitate the "Deep Color", xvYCC Color Space, and some additional features. More official info here...

a3000 if you can wait.

hell i'd say a2020 over the xbr2. same light engine, same picture adjustments all you are losing is pip & cable card, the extra bulb(which you'll need with an xbr2's torch brightness) and the dumbo ears.

The a3000 has a slew of new features and is a damn good lookin set. I'd have waited but I didn't want to and the 120hz, 1.3 weren't a huge deal to me. I can deal with a lil judder on pans. and save $1000 bucks!

Plus the a2020 fits my nook, matches my stand and has a beautiful picture.

You really can't lose with any SXRD, IMO.

The A3000 looks awesome.

One thing I would like to confirm is whether the 24p input mixes with 120Hz Motionflow?

Does it do a 1:5 frame conversion for 24p input?

I have the 70" XBR2 and love it.. but if I have to get one this year I will wait for the XBR5. You can find the information on Sony's website.
