My plasma is being delivered tomorrow. I was talking to the delivery carrier and they said it is best to wait 1 hour before plugging it in to allow it to reach room temperature since the trucks are cold and not heated.
What is the story on this? I am not keen on not plugging this in to see if it works you know? I can at least make sure it's not damaged, but is it safe to plug it in when cold? It has not been super cold here. 40'4/50's - lately it's been in the 60's during the day. Its slated to be delivered in the morning. Need some opinions on this. Never honestly heard of it. |

The delivery guy told me that it's a good idea to wait for it warm up to room temp before turning it on.
My set was delivered on a freezing cold day (~40 F) and the inside of his truck was colder. I waited 2-3 hours for it to come to room temp. Just think about it - glass and electronics (although made of modern materials and well-designed) can be stressed by sudden temperature changes. We've paid a good chunk of our hard-earned money on these plasmas. Why not take extra precautions with it? Anyway man -- congrats on the new TV. You will LOVE it, just like all the other happy Panny plasma owners have said! ![]() |

I have a Panasonic being delivered on Saturday. Given that I live in Southern California it won't be terribly cold but pretty cold.
Waiting a couple of hours will be rather difficult to do because if I am going to accept the TV i will need to plug it in and turn it on to make sure it operates properly before the delivery guys leave. |

I've also heard (around here I think) that you should wait to turn the set on in order to give the cells a chance to "settle" or something after all of the bouncing around during shipment. Not sure what this does, but I thought doby actually posted it, so I figured there had to be some truth behind it.
