Angry Sxrd,kds-r60xbr1 Hdmi Problems

I bought this Tv from HH Gregg in 2005. This year in 2008 I have had the Optical Block Replaced, and the HDMI Block replaced Twice. I have a Sony Dream System, PS3, And a Dish Net HD/DVR Receiver. My PS3 and Dream System would not recognize the HDMI Input. The people that fixed my TV(Tops Electric) told me to use the Components. When I bought the Tv I bought the HDMI cables, which were expensive back then. Tops Electric told me about Other TV'S have been having problems. I have found alot of forums with these kind of TV'S having the problems that me and alot of people are having. They are the ones that don't recognize the HDMI Input. The HDMI might last awhile but it won't last forever. I suggest to use the components instead of buying there expensive cables or what not. Sony is one of the best out there I think but this just makes me mad of how they can't fix a software problem. I love my TV, it has a great picture and great features. I still have warranty till 2010 so I can get it replaced but when it's out it's out. Please take my word and don't use HDMI, use Monster cable Component with Audio cable which cost the same.

If you have a warranty until 2010, I'd be on their ass every day until they fixed the HDMI issues. Sounds like they don't want to be bothered with repairing it. I would make another call and schedule a service call and tell them you want it fixed.

I have had it fixed. They just told me to call sony next time, which I will not. I told Tops that they have to fix it at least 3 times and then I would call it a lemon. I'll call sony on the 3rd time and see if they will replace it which I am dreaming now. We'll see

HH Gregg sold you the tv, and Tops is the warranty company? Then it's up to them to take care of it. Don't get Sony involved or have them fix it, because then Tops will probably void your warranty and say the Sony tech people did something and they aren't going to cover it. Again, I had a similar problem with a set a few years ago, and the warranty companies are real turds. Keep on them and don't give up on it. They are responsible for repairing or replacing it, not Sony. Don't take no for an answer, and if you get the run around, ask to speak to a supervisor.

I had a similar problem to yours.
I had an HP 720p plasma tv and hooked my cable box and ps3 via HDMI.
Then a couple of months ago i purchased a new Samsung 1080p tv and plugged in the same HDMI cables in and had no picture on my 1080p output. So after playing with it i found out that the highest video i could do with those cables was 1080i. I purchased new cables and now i have no problems at all.

I agree. If you have an extended warranty thats what you purchased it for. You didnt get it to be told sorry theres nothing i can do for you. Would you not protest if you purchased full coverage insurance for your car and got into an accident and they said sorry nothing i can do for you??

I worked for a tv repair place that was sony authorized and we got our parts from sony direct. Even if the warranty was purchased from a local company we still had to be authorized by sony to fix their tvs. I would give sony a try and see what they say. Maybe they will work something out with the place you purchased the tv from.
