so got myself a Bluetooth headset.

My friend and I play all the time...but we use the old fashioned corded headsets for our cell phones.

Here's the Bluetooth headset I bought yesterday for 50$ at Best Buy:

The emloyee told me that this was the only one that would work with the PS3, and I beleived him. It gets the job done though.

I'm pretty sure that any bluetooth compliant device will work with PS3.

Even a bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse

I know that now. I had a headset I used with my phone, but I didn't know it would work on the PS3. So now I have 2.

nothing wrong with owning 2....

I own 2 headsets so I can just switch them when the headset dies...

depending on the brand, you may or may not have pairing difficulties...

for instance...if you have a Sony Ericsson phone and get a Motorola headset, you may have problems with it staying paired...

but the Jabra/Plantronics headsets seem to work well with just about any phone and are ideal for brands like Nokia that don't make headsets.....at least to my knowledge...
