Question for Samsung BDP2500 owners -- if that's not you, please don't reply.
How loud is your fan? Sitting 6' from my player I find the background noise coming from the player to be annoying. I think it's the fan and it emits a hum that is audible during quiet movie passages. It's not horrible but I'm finding it annoying. [Note, I'm not talking about when loading/playing discs. I stream a lot of Netflix movies so that's when I tend to notice it most and it's about as noisy then as when it's sitting there idle]. The retailer I bought it from will exchange it but I'll have to drive over there and if they are all this way, it's not worth the hassle. I e-mailed Samsung and they told me to call their 1800# which of course was in India and they were totally useless. If anyone from Samsung reads this, your first line tech support is a lesson in why outsourcing is a bad idea ![]() |

I can here the fan on my 1200, it is just a hair louder then the fan on my tv.. I find it annoying too.. I just turn up the sound a little more to drown it out.
This is not uncommon complaint too read, any player with a fan will put out sound, some of us here it, some not... Last edited by clyon; 12-18-2008 at 11:01 PM. |

Thanks, any 2500 owners have similar experiences?
I'm not sure I agree on it being inevitable that the fan will make noise, it doesn't appear to be flowing that much air and you can get virtually silent low-cfm rate fans these days. |

Fans are cheap,...and easy to replace. Buy one the right size from any place like Radio Shack,...New Egg,....Tiger Direct.

Maybe in a years time once the warranty has expired. Cracking it open to replace the fan on a brand new unit is just going to void it .... aka not a smart idea.

I don't notice any fan noice coming from my player - except when it is reading the disk before playing it. I would have it checked out. Even after a couple hours - I still don't hear any noise. Good luck friend! It's a great player. Be glad when we can update ours to DTS-MA.
