I’ve seen this a lot lately. I don’t think expecting everyone to search through every thread for the info they’re looking for is a reasonable thing to ask. For one, there could be multiple pages to search through, and the search aspect of the iPhone app is pretty useless. I did that once and found multiple “relevant” posts but none of them answered my questions very clearly.
Time to stop being whiny elitist *****es, and just not reply to a thread with repetitive questions, folks! |

But there's like, zero effort put forth. If it's a dead end, fine. Just try, is all we ask.

Example? What did you have so much trouble finding that you got criticized for asking?
There's nothing "elitist" about it. It takes like 10 seconds to do a quick search for the information you're looking for, and the results are often accurate and helpful. You can further narrow your results for answers by searching only within the proper subforum, if you're getting too many results, or within a thread if it's a very specific subject. When people don't bother to put forth even the minimal effort, we end up with threads like the moviepass one, where people ask the same questions on every single page. Reading a page or two back and/or utilizing the search function (it exists for a reason, people) is a matter of etiquette. Some dolts don't even read the first post in a thread before commenting and asking questions that were answered in that very first post.

Sometimes it's just hard to figure out the right keywords. I do utilize the search function and when you get back several pages it's enough to make your brain hurt.
In the end, I just try to find a thread where my question or comment will fit the best and hope that tomatoes won't get lobbed in my direction. ![]() |

Also, you can search within just that appropriate thread and get a lot less results to sort through. |
