They could have given some of that to the Auto Makers.

Or atleast use it to give to the people in the Bronx who can't afford Gifts and food for Christmas Dinner. I mean give back to the people that suport you bye going to the games. If you have that kind of money

You wait, AJ will be boo'ed by the NY Fans by mid-April for walking the bases loaded a few times and then he will be on the DL for half of the season.

A picther with an ERA well over 4.00 is not worth this kind of money.

Very true, but many Sox fans are bitter about the way things ended. The guy could have been so much more if he had an adult brain. Anyway, any team to sign him for more than a year or two is asking for problems. Awesome hitter, horrible pro athlete role model.

Sabathia is going to get ROCKED in the AL... why he wasn't doing all that great with my Indians this past season.. hitters finally caught up to him. The only reason he did well in the NL is because hitters weren't familiar with him.

Yankees can sign whoever they want it won't make a difference.

Sabathia sucks in the AL and blows in the playoffs(if they make it).
AJ sucks and the fans will hate his guts by May 09(enjoy those 5 years together).
Manny is poison and is no longer of any value in anyone's clubhouse.

3. YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND... Manny is the BEST pure hitter in baseball.. the personification of the perfect DH position! Look what Manny did for the LA Dudgers, if it weren't for him no way no how they make it into the playoffs.

Manny needs to go back to his roots.. the team that got him going in the mid 90's.. the team that started it all for him.. the team that has owned the Yankees.... The TRIBE...

Every year the Boston Red(HD DVD) Sox and the Yankees try to BUY a championship and do not win it's one more year of success for MLB in general. If MLB has any resemblance of a real commish MLB would be on top of the world.

Gotta love it when a 50+- million $ team beats a 5 trillion +++++++ team...

Oh I agree Manny is talented, and yeah likely worth it... i guess it doesn't matter what i think of him personally and if he is selfish at times. But for a team with good chemistry, someone like Manny could be a problem.

Now the Angels and Red Sox say thay have withdrawn from the bargaining table - who is going to end up with Teixeira? Something should happen in the next couple days, any predictions? Will he go to NY?

Hopefully the Nationals... would be nice to see a team like that end up with a big signing.

When the Yanks put out the $$ on the table and sign people, it's not ok but when it's the Boston Red Sox, it's ok. The Yanks aren't allowed to spend but the Red Sox are.

I hope the Yanks win their 27 World Series in 2009!

MLB needs a friggin salary cap! It's turning into a huge joke.

It's to the point now where 75% of the teams will never land High Profile Free Agents because of being outbid by the same ole teams. A few owners and certain Agents are destroying the game... quickly!

The Jays have serious management issues. They are going downhill. Bringing back Cito Gaston ? Was that a good move ? How is the ambiance at the Skydome ? Are the tickets cheap ? If i can't go to NY to see the Yanks, i can always go with a buddy of mine to T.O. and see the Yanks at the Skydome.
