According to the Sales Powerpoint slides I had to write up for LDMS' sales team:
  • English-language versions of each feature presented with original English inserts
  • Original Italian trailers for The Decameron and The Canterbury Tales; original English trailer for Arabian Nights
  • Exclusive new documentary on Pasolini and the Italian genre film
  • Notes for an African Oresteia (1970), Pasolini’s visual notes for a never-realised feature film
  • Deleted sequences from Arabian Nights
  • PCM mono audio (48k/24-bit) throughout

I know that the sales coordinators got new info today - I'll try and get a look at that tomorrow.

Thank you. I have these pre ordered and was just wondering if I would even be able to understand it.

I'm sorry to see that Pasolini's Trilogy is only slated to be released for Region B playback.

Is there any word on a Region A release?

These are art films I would certainly want in my collection. (The Decameron is the best of the group IMO)

Hello Kristin,

I don't believe these will be coming to Region-A territories any time soon.

Hello Pro-B,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Sorry to hear that, though. Maybe I should look for an unlocked (region-free) player.

Red Desert alone is a good enough reason

No, Kristin, I have not. In fact, all of the Region C titles that are currently available are modern Russian films that are hardly worth any attention (Admiral included). I was hoping that Sokurov's Alexandra could be a title that would make it to BD, but it has not happened. As far as I am concerned, classic Soviet (or Georgian cinema for that matter) cinema is more likely to be released first via a French distributor.

Sokurov has a bit of an odd status in contemporary cinema. He is a name director, but I must admit that I rarely ever come across cinephiles that have seen more than 2-3 of his films. In addition, barely any of his films get dvd or blu-ray releases, especially not outside of Russia, and usually when they do the transfers are pretty shoddy.

Anyway, I like Alexandra, but I'd much rather see his earlier films restored like Days Of The Eclipse or Stone etc.

Why have you bumped a 6 year old thread?

I think Sokurov is pretty well represented on home video in the UK, Artificial Eye alone have released 11 of his films on dvd. Compare that to the amount of Aleksei German or Kira Muratova films available.

I posted it in the wrong thread.

Are you sure it's 11? Anyway, most of the transfers are shoddy, especially of his early films. That isn't Artificial Eyes fault of course.
