Default Dark, depressing noir recommendations on blu ray

Looking for some noir titles on blu ray that have a more depressing, dark or down tone or ending. Trying out Breaking point from Criterion.

Great thread. Blast of Silence is pretty downbeat.

To be clear I was referring to the Noir thread referenced above. It is great source for information.

In A Lonely Place - can't go wrong with Bogart/Criterion, and the ending is depressing, all right.

Unfortunately not on BR, but Angel Face with Robert Mitchum and Jean Simmons fits the bill perfectly.

Mildred Pierce on Criterion is bleak as well.

If you want a more recent example, try The Man Who Wasn’t There. The Coen Bros flick.

Can't believe none of these were mentioned yet. I haven't seen them in some time, but if I remember correctly they all have darker endings. And I also highly recommend In A Lonely Place.

Love noir films..some good suggestions, some that I haven't seen and some that I should see again.

It is streamable on Amazon Prime or there are two inexpensive DVD editions for $6 and $8. Very short at just 67 minutes; looking forward to seeing it.

This one is a must--some might argue that it's not a depressing ending per se, but it's definitely a f**ked up movie with a real bang of an ending.

I would argue that it isn't a noir.

Two great films with incredibly downbeat endings:

KISS ME DEADLY (Criterion)
THE PAWNBROKER (Olive Films)

A low-budget wonder:

PRIVATE PROPERTY (Cinelicious Pics)

A noir-ish docudrama, one of the best "night films" ever:

THE EXILES (Milestone Film & Video)

I would argue it's neo-noir--I've seen it listed as such. I figure it would be fair game since somebody mentioned Se7en up above.

Sorry to say, I need to catch up on the classics yet.
