3D is not mentioned in the teaser trailer film-credit.

It's nice to have some genre diversity with 3D films. This might be the only non-action, non-animated release next year. Looks pretty fun!

Thumbs up

Before Ant-Man and the Wasp 3D today, I saw The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (Disney, 2018) 3D trailer and the 3D looks very impressive, with high medium, and strong 3D layers throughout the whole trailer. Wow. The visuals remind me of something from Wizard of Oz, with the Wooden soldiers marching and the dark realm the characters are in. Looks promising, but the 3D should be awesome if the trailer is accurate to the film. I say high medium to strong because it varies slightly in different shots.

I saw a preview for this last week before a showing of The Incredibles 2 and also found it very impressive, the 3D was pretty strong and joy to look at, the following day I watched Antman and the Wasp in 2D on the same theater screen and it showed the same trailer and the difference was like night and day.

In the 3D preview I was all attentive and admiring the beauty of it but in 2D it just didn't peek my interest as much.

I believe this releases in theaters in a few weeks time.

Thanks hardkore.

This looks like it's going to be great. Guess we will all be importing it from our usual sources.

No, not necessarily. If it doesn't do well enough Disney won't bother with a 3D Blu-ray and will simply dump it out in 2D just as they did with Pete's Dragon and A Wrinkle In Time.

I'm not thinking this will do well especially since it will be going up against Bohemian Rhapsody which has been getting a lot of hype (at least in my area)

Well ... I am part of that 3D bandwagon. No 3D Blu == No Buy.

Thanks for the gloomy possibility.

sadly this seems to be a trend, if it's not Marvel or Pixar, live action 3D Disney titles just aren't meant to be released on home video ... am planning on seeing this in the theater come hell or high water.

I wish it was not so, but I would definitely recommend going to see this theatrically if you want to see it in 3D - the sad fact is that Disney won't release this on 3D Blu-ray anywhere if it doesn't do well enough on initial release.

I can't speak for A Wrinkle in Time but Pete's Dragon had some fairly mild like 3D. I also saw a 3D trailer for The Nutcracker and thought it looked great. I will certainly go see this as it might be the only time to see it in 3D.

They're two different target audiences though. One is for grown up audiences, and this one is geared for kids and families. I bet they can both do well in theaters. Similar to how Deadpool did well with an R rating, and Beauty and the Beast live action did well with PG.

Great point. If it doesn't do well in theaters, Disney is the kind of company not to back it with important features like blu ray 3D. They're eager to heal their losses more than anything if it tanks in theaters.

Saw a preview of this in 3d before a local"ish" screening of small foot. Kinda surprised me - it didn't look like the kind of movie I would rush out to see....BUT the 3d looked awesome...plenty of depth ( no noticeable pop outs from memory) and plenty of shape in the conversion.

I'm kinda likng this "darker" journey of Disney tales that we are being taken on....if this hits theatres in 3d it'll be a definate watch for me....and Disney (if you're reading) its a 100% purchase from me if we get a 3d Blu....but a no- go if its a flat release.....

Chris

I’ll make sure to see this in 3D in theaters since I doubt there will be a home release anywhere for it.

Hopefully the family audiences will see this in theaters. Without Star Wars, there will be slightly less competition. But yeah, the impressive stronger 3D in the trailer has my interest in seeing this in theaters.

Here's the 3D Trailer (Russian Language)
Looks like a range of medium, high medium and some strong 3D.
