December 5th to January 16th - that's a long delay. And all because they got the packaging wrong.

With reviews already up, I can't imagine it'll be another 25 days before release date - I'm guessing it'll ultimately be 1/9 and not 1/16. (Amazon has excessively pushed back release dates in reaction to delays before.)

So, it seems that those little white lines down the left of the original screenshots ARE visible on the finished product. I did ask Severin via Twitter when the set was announced and they seemed to not know they were there, but reassured me that it was just some overscan that wouldn't be visible on home TV. When I asked if that still applied to those of us using the "just scan" setting, they said they didn't know and would have to check that for me. I didn't hear back.

Why is everyone saying this is delayed till Jan 16th? Mine set is in the mail to me as I type this, so I'm not sure where this Jan 16th release is coming from.

1/16 is the revised Amazon release date. Copies ordered direct from Severin are (as you have noted) already shipping. (Though not mine!)

Yeah, I stopped getting limited editions from Amazon since they screwed me a couple times, so I only buy them direct now so I know I'll get one.

I ordered this set from Amazon because it was cheaper than ordering direct from Severin but I just went to Severin's site and now it's cheaper than Amazon. I thought Severin rarely lowers their prices? Anyway, I cancelled my Amazon order and ordered from Severin. Does anyone know if they're closed until after the holidays? Now I'm thinking I'll have to wait until January for Severin to ship this while Amazon may actually get stock in the next few days. It feels like I'm playing tag with these guys.

I pre-ordered the set with the Amicus book ($75 bundle) + a discounted item added to that on the Black Friday sale to pass the free shipping threshold. Severin went ahead and shipped the single Black Friday item separately yesterday. So they either must be waiting to ship the book along with the set...or the set just really isn't shipping yet.

I did see someone post on another forum that they got a "shipped" notification for the Amicus set this past Monday, but they only received the Black Friday sale items + bonus DVD when that shipment actually arrived.

Has anyone actually received the set yet?

My "Jack the Ripper" pre-order now shows as shipped/completed in my Severin account, and I doubt that's possible yet. It curiously lists the Black Friday sale item that shipped from the other order there also.

Well, maybe you're the very first person to have JACK shipped to you. I hope that's true, but I'm doubtful as well, until proven otherwise.

Amicus/Jack Production Nightmare Update #2:

After pushing to get finished goods printed as soon as possible, we are finally able to see a light at the end of the tunnel. It appears we will have everything we need to start shipping both Amicus box sets and Jack the Ripper limited editions at the beginning of the New Year. Our apologies again to anyone who ordered these items as Christmas gifts. We will still process a full refund for anyone who wants one.

In the meantime, we're still shipping out all other orders in large quantities every day. We've also sent out review copies of the Amicus titles without the finished box, so you'll begin seeing reviews of the disc content as well. If you have any questions about your order, you can contact jason@severin-films.com, but please be aware that he is currently fielding thousands of orders, so his ability to respond is quite limited.

So it looks like I was correct... the Amicus sets are not actually shipping yet, and will not be shipping until the beginning of 2018.

As I understood it, the hard slip box was manufactured a wee bit small, such that the discs in their cases, wouldn't fit into it.

Sounds like neither JACK nor AMICUS will begin shipping until the new year. I hope Severin will update us again when those releases begin to ship.

Are most of Severin's release done in progressive scan, or are they interlaced?

Severin's Blu-ray releases are usually always Progressive, 1080p.
