Just be glad we don't have to skip 7 trailers before we even get to the menu on most 4K releases.

It's a reasonable question. I just got my first UHDs recently in the Nolan Collection, and all start out with some video clips followed by a plain title screen and it did seem odd. If that's the way they all are now, I'm with OP in wondering why that would be. It doesn't particularly bother me, and I'm not about to complain, but it's a curiosity. |

Maybe dropping a few grand on a new display and a new player and a new AVR is a better idea than I thought ![]() |

The Sony menus are shite though. Clunky, slow and no practical pop-up menu of note, it's a good job Sony are such wizards at creating gorgeous 4K images otherwise those steam-driven menus would really get on my thrupenny bits. Sony wanna party like it's 1999, literally.

I don't buy movies for the menu. I have never stopped and said "wow what a nice looking menu".

That's partly what I mean, that stuff is what used to pass as 'special features' 20 years ago, it's so strange that Sony's menus have regressed so much.

It's not really what it looks like for me, I just want the kind of functionality that has become standard on HD media for the past decade or so. |
