Alright guys I hope I’m posting in the right spot. I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the best surge protector for my set up. What I need is one that can lay flat in the cabinet or be screwed into the wall behind my tv. Here’s a list of everything that needs to be plugged in :
Samsung 6300 series 4K tv Xbox one x PS4 pro Nintendo switch Apple TV 4K Cox cable box Smartoo 4K HDR hdmi switcher I’ve read that you shouldn’t plug the Xbox one x into a surge protector and that it should be plugged into the wall directly which is no problem. Everything else should be fine plugged into the surge protector. Not looking to spend a lot if I can help it. Any advice or direction would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. DMC86X |

How does a 2 cm part inside that protector somehow 'block' what three miles of sky cannot. It cannot. How many joules does that protector claim to 'absorb'? Hundreds? Thousand? How does it protect from potentially destructive surges - tens or hundreds of thousands of joules? Even that protector must be protected by what protects an Xbox, everything else, your dishwasher, every GFCI, refrigerator, clocks, furnace, dimmer switched, recharging electronics, modem, garage door opener - everything. For over 100 years, the informed have properly earthed a 'whole house' protector for effective protection. Since a protector is only as effective as its earth ground. That is little known to so many who were only educated by hearsay, advertising, urban myths, and - most damning - no spec numbers. Those facts are why Xbox (and other electronics) are best not connected to an adjacent protector. Spend tens or even 100 times less money on a properly earthed 'whole house' solution. So that a rare and potentially destructive surge (maybe once every seven years) does not overwhelm superior protection already inside an Xbox - and all other appliances. |
