I purchased the Panasonic DMP-BD55 for my bf. We have a Samsung 720p. He cannot get a picture through the HDMI cable. We have called Samsung & Panasonic and the only solution is to try using the firmware from Panasonic. They will send us a disc but in the meantime, while we wait for that and decide whether or not to return this, how do you download the firmware?
I can't figure it out and I have tried searching on the Internet to no avail. This is slightly irritating bc we didn't realize this would be an issue. Unless he's doing something wrong...maybe someone had a solution on that too. Thanks in advance for any help! |

Sounds like it might be a defective unit. Firmware would have no effect on a no picture scenario
Plug it into the set using the yellow plugs and see if you get a picture. If you do, set it to 720p and try again. If you still have nothing, the unit is defective and you should return it. If you're successful, configure it to go online and plug it into the net as the manual directs for the firmware update. Failing that, you can put download it here and put it on the SD card or burn it to a disc. http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...5/bd55_na.html |

We are getting a picture through the yellow plugs. The issue is that it's just a regular picture. This unit cost almost $400. Prior to this we had an upconverter Samsung DVD player that worked via the HDMI cable. This new Panasonic will not work via the HDMI cable (guess I should have been clearer on my explanation).
We tried what you said. We are clueless about burning to a disk or the SD card. I have a Mac and something tells me burning anything will also be an added issue. SIGH........had I known this & I would have gotten him the turntable he wanted instead of this stupid Blu Ray player. |

This might be your answer
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-e...STG_CNT_030254 Why you have to turn on HDMI is beyond me, but there you go Stuffit will open up the firmware you download from that site. Just burn the .FRM file to a CD and put it in the player and wait. Everything you need to know is on page 14 and 17 of your manual Last edited by Jeff Kleist; 01-03-2009 at 02:22 AM. |
